Lovely video. I will be trying to clone my favourite t shirt tomorrow! Thank you for not having any background music. Makes it so much easier to concentrate when watching.

Great tutorial!! Thank you for sharing this video. I do have a t-shirt I love and will try to make a new one. Maybe do a tutorial on twin-needle sewing. I will check out the other videos as they may have this feature in them. All the best!

Wonderful video. Thank you for the clear, concise instructions. I have an unlined lady jacket I would like to clone, so I'm going to give it a try with first making a toile. The only intimidating parts for me might be the facings. Thank you again.

This is a great video. I've wanted to clone clothes for a while, as I find some pattern sizing too large, some too small. I try hard to get it right but am keen to copy some of my well-loved (and now, ancient!) stretchy trousers. Is this something you could show us how to do, Jo? You may already have it in the pipeline. Thank you again for excellent and clear instructions. 🤩

Another great tutorial Jo. I plan to clone my favourite pyjamas now I've warched your video!
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
That is a good idea. I do that for my girls PJ trousers as they get too short in the leg but they still need a slim waist.

Great video, Jo. Did you use a coverstitch machine for the twin needle finish at the neckline? I haven't had much success with my normal machine.

Thank you, Jo, for this tutorial. I am a beginner and would love to clone a gored skater-style skirt that I bought ready to wear a few years ago, which I have literally worn to within an inch of its life. I will start with a t-shirt and then try the skirt. Thanks for the clear instructions. Regards, Jill
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
If your skirt is nearly a gonna, you can unpick one of the gore panels and use this as your template.

@@joanneroberts2357 Thank you so much for the tip, Jo, I will definitely unpick one of the gore panels to use as a template. That never occurred to me - thanks again. Regards, Jill

that was such a good tutorial. There is one question I have,( but not about the cloning). I have the same pattern you showed at the beginning and made the t shirt.. badly I might add.The neck was very big. I don't know why or what I did wrong. Could you do a tutorial on that? I've had a machine for a few years now , but Im still rubbish at fitting. Great tutorial.
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
The neckline is quite big. Make your neckband 10% shorter than the hole so that you bring the neck in a bit. Also you can change the angles at the shoulder. Why not use the original pattern pieces and have a play around with finding your preferred neckline.
@SyKnifeАй бұрын
Sometimes it’s nothing you did, it’s the pattern. But also make sure you’re not stretching the neckline as you sew it.

I fin your tutorials so helpful and clear. I haven’t ever used a twin needle, maybe it’s time to try! Thank you Jo.
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
Definitely give it a try. One of those things that once you have done it, you will find yourself wondering why you avoided it!

Thanks so much for this video Jo. I had emailed Minerva a while ago to see if you could do a t-shirt cloning tutorial and here it is. Brilliant!

Would it be possible to do a video on how to clone jeans? I was lucky enough to be able to buy jeans that fit well for the last 5 years or so, but styles have changed and I can't get them any more! I have a bit of denim as I have been going to make jeans for a while, but I've never quite made any.😧

Loved this tutorial. Can this cloning method be used for pull on stretch yoga type wide leg trousers? Can it also be used for a jersey dress that has side bust darts? I have a couple of things I bought like 20yrs ago, I love them and can't replace them. Would be good if I could now make them my self 😊
@AussieTracyАй бұрын
As long as the fabric you are going to use has a similar stretch to the original then yes it will work. If the fabric has less stretch then just add extra to the cloned pattern. I would also pre wash the fabric so that you don't get shrinkage as the garment you are cloning will have been washed. Just make sure to clone the waist band of your pants by pulling the fabric to be flat if it has elastic. I would probably make the pants first and then measure the waistband to fit.

Love the video thank you. I need to clone a pair of men's leggings/exercise trousers and would like a video as I think the crotch may be tricky. 😮
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
True. You need to make two pattern pieces one for the front legs and one for the back legs which is bigger and has a slightly different crotch shape. I will pop it on the list.

I have a wrap dress with a half circle skirt (I think) that I love and fits me so well. If live to relocate or but I feel like it might be quite a lot more complicated. Any suggestions?
@joanneroberts2357Ай бұрын
Could be. Circle skirt part is easy enough but the bodice is sometimes tricky. Can you find a pattern like it and then hack two parts together from say another pattern: one with a half circle skirt and the bodice from another?

Could you do one to clone yoga pants please. The ones I have are a flare leg. Thankyou 🙏

Sorry, but those sleeves are not fitting correctly. Look at the gap in the front underneath her arm.
