This video alone caused me to subscribe to your channel! I love the simple, straightforward, honest approach to teaching, that you employ. I love the fact that you recognize and appreciate the waste of resources in applying heat for such a simple task, where it is simply unwarranted (some would argue that the use of heat as a substitute for elbow grease is an application of laziness to an already easy task). My first experience with cold bending 3/8 rebar was in a class required, by the DoD, to qualify as an interrogation assistant. We were taught to bend bar by hand, in the scare tactics portion of class…a lot like, ”World’s Strongest Man Competition,” hold both ends of a 3’ bar and bend around the back of the neck/ bend it across the thigh or behind the knee/hold at center with teeth [only to start the bend]…all said to say that you make excellent content about relative material in true form. You present very much like a depression era farmer, waste nothing and the harvest will justify the effort spent! Be safe and Blessed!

First let me say great video for quick & easy no-heat bending!!! Starting out with bad info (0:31) though.... both versions of Mapp gas burn hotter than propane. Propane burns in air at about 2800F - 3200F - Map-Pro (what many people think of as mapp gas) is the new formulation of mapp gas, it burns in air at about 3400F - 3800F and takes about 5 minutes with a good torch tip to heat 1/2" rebar enough (bright cherry red or about 1800F) to make an easy stress relieved (non-breaking) sharp bend. Map-Pro is 99.5% propylene + 0.5% propane. Real MAPP gas (discontinued in 2008) is a liquefied petroleum gas that is a mixture of methylacetylene (propyl), propadiene, and propane. It can get hot enough to MELT most metals except Tungsten, as it can reach 5300F with a proper tip. I'm fortunate to still have nearly 2 full cans of real mapp gas, it can heat that 1/2" rebar to a bright yellow (about 2300F) for an easy bend in about 2 minutes.
