I make a Campfire Tripod - Heating Steel Rebar with a Handheld Propane LPG Gas Burner Torch.
Because I was using 5/8 inch (16mm) Rebar I needed to use a gas burner torch to heat the steel so I could bend it. I enjoy doing blacksmithing-type jobs, it was a very peaceful DIY project, with nowhere near the amount of noise I normally make.
We do quite a bit of outdoor campfire or fireplace cooking and this tripod is a good solid addition to our outdoor kitchen gear.
All the rebar was 5/8 inch (16mm) Except the Hook which was made with 1/2 inch (13mm) Rebar. The height of the campfire tripod, when it is set up, is 43 1/2 inches (110mm).
The main tools used, were a Handheld Propane LPG Gas Burner Torch, MIG welder, angle grinder, and bench vise.
Tools / Supplies, I often use are.

I have two forges, two powerhammers, and a hydraulic forging press. I can make this is moments. BUT. You do it with brains and finesse. As opposed to brute strength. Brilliant use of strategic heat and pressure. As always? You Sir are an effing Beast of a Madman!! Your skills always amaze me.

I heard there's a lot of big construction in your area that's fallen behind schedule because of a shortage of rebar. Great build. I like how you introduced heat to this project. Anyone with a gas BBQ can get a torch for under a hundred and do the same.

I made one years ago, but I like the way you did it better. I welded steel washers about 15mm from the bottom of the legs so they wouldn't sink into soft soil, but kept the points a bit sharp. Thanks for the video. Jon

I have done the same thing with some of our light travel ones, put washers near the bottom too. Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.

Great video! I recently saw a Bautri-System that combines normal formwork props into a hugh solide tripod for pulling trees roots or for a Light Pole.

Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. That would be a large tripod, many years ago we used a large tripod I made from 2 inch pipe and a chain block for lifting engines in and out of cars etc. The good old days. Cheers Paul.
