If it makes it any better this truck was built 7/99 I was born 7/5/89. The date coded items I have found under the hood (Hoses, paper tags and such) are 6/28-7/2. So This truck was built round the time I was born only ten years later. CRAZY lol. The story of this truck and How I got it is in the planning stages. I have a few videos before of that one. There is so much content coming. If you haven't subscribed then please subscribe. Tons of cool stuff over on Instagram also. NEW videos on MONDAY extra content goes up Wednesday or Friday.

I let my plugs run for about 20-40 seconds and it starts unplugged every time. I usually let it idle for a minute then kick it into high idle and let it get a bit comfy before I take it down the road. Good ol OBS 7tree. If it don’t work it’s the glow plug relay, just jump it manually and if it works there is the answer.

How do you kick it into high idle with out steping on the accelerator?
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife4 жыл бұрын
I have a programmer. I run a Hydro chip. I have a video on the chip. I would suggest the Hyrdo chip over any of the competitors. Your foot works. Some guys use a stick against the seat. If you have an electric seat you can bump it gently but I would just suggest getting a programmer like the hydro chip. The 6.0 automatic got the double tap feature so it depends on the truck you have. I've heard the 6.4 and 6.7 powerstrokes have a high idle feature also. I hope this helps. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. Thank you for commenting.

i have a 95 7.3 and im wondering does your 2000 have the “wait to start” light? i was told to that the glow plugs turn off when that light turns off which causes me to cycle through the on-off 3-5 times on real cold mornings.
@007.3l5 жыл бұрын
The way to start light on the dash is on a separate timer circuit from the glow plug relay under the hood
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife4 жыл бұрын
Yes my truck does have the WTS. Check out some of my other videos posted right after this one when my truck broke down I talk about that light alot. The circuit is different from the glow plugs. The light is just like every other dash light. It's an idiot light. Just ignore it. Thank you for commenting.

This is true. Just an idiot light. Thank you for commenting.

You have good injectors and motor for sure. Do you run any fuel additives?
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife2 жыл бұрын
Stanadyne. I have a video about it. An old video but still a video none the less. lol Thank you for commenting.

A little update on my truck, it allways had a rough time starting in 30 degree weather. I found out my motor was not spinning fast enough after a new starter. It starts really easy now.

Yep glow plugs stay on about two minutes. If you get a voltage gauge you can clearly see the voltage go up as soon as glow plugs shut down. I never start my truck in the winter until glow plugs completely shut off and voltage goes up No need to cycle glow plugs twice
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife5 жыл бұрын
Yes everyone has their own techniques. Keeping an eye on a voltmeter is a good way. Some guys do LEDs lights. The longer you own your truck the more you understand it. It will depend on the truck and the conditions how many times you have to cycle the ignition. No 2 trucks or areas are the same. It is about figuring out what works best for you. Thank you for commenting.

What air filter is that?
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife6 жыл бұрын
Donaldson Blue with a cloth pre filter. I don't remember the part number right now. I'll make sure I note the part number in my video on the filter. The company I got mine from I wont rep. Terrible customer service. IE Why the logos are turned down/away or covered. On their products. I have multiple companies products on my truck. Make sure you subscribe to see my video on who is the best to buy from.

Well the list most people care about. CAI, 4" downpipe straight to 6" tip, banks big head blow off valve, tuned I think its a 5 blade turbo wheel. I have a list of other things the little things. The things I feel are possibly more important then the list most people care about. I will be making a video on my truck and the little details I have done, the things I love about my truck. Hi great vid and information the only thing I would add is that the glow plugs are on the same length of time regardless if the engine is running or not thanks
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife6 жыл бұрын
Yes running the glow plugs before you start the truck warms the cylinder head and everything included. Making it easier to start the motor. Some people wire an LED to the glow plug circuit so they can watch it tick on and off. Thank you for you comment Don't forget to subscribe.

My friends 7.3 needs to be cycled a few times yes he waits about 2 minutes each... Also plugged to the wall all night... Even then its a rough start and smokes alot... My 7.3 with almost 300k... Starts right up in below freezing temps not plugged in. And smokes a very faint haze for about 8 seconds... My wife starts it at times forgetting to let the plugs warm up, key in and crank haha fires right up though. This winter we live in a warm climate though but hopefully next winter it continues to fire up as it always has. 👍
@andrewwelch75615 жыл бұрын
There is something wrong with your friends truck. Either glow plugs, glow plug relay, or block heater. If he leaves it plugged in all night then the upper radiator hose should be warm to the touch in the morning. You can even feel the warmth of the engine as you open the hood if it is really cold out. If nothing is warm then the block heater is shot. Best of luck!
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife4 жыл бұрын
Ya that seems like somethings not right. My truck starts pretty dang good. Hopefully your friend figures it out and gets it fixed. KZbin likes to unsub people so make sure your subscribed and don't forget the bell. Thank you for commenting.

When I plug my truck in my oil temp at start up is 90-100 F depending on outdoor temp and wind chill. Of course the oil in the pan is cold so the oil temp drops as the the motor runs. But you should be able to notice if the block heater is working or not. KZbin likes to unsub people so make sure your subscribed and don't forget the bell. Thank you for commenting.

Key words : Block Heater ! Plugger in !
@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for commenting. Yes a block heater is important but you need to know what your vehicle can handle. There is not electricity everywhere. Nor does everyone have the time to wait for a block heater to warm. The next is electricity use to run it over night instead of waiting. So you use a switch timer to turn it on. That gets us back to there's not electricity everywhere or you forget or Unexpected events happen.
