Im new with dragon fruit plants. Started with one plant from seed. Its fun seeing it grow. Last year after 5 years, it had its first flower, just one. This year it had 12 . Even though i tried to pollenize with its own pollen i didn't get any fruit. Unfortunately its not a self fertile i was told, it needs pollen from other variety. So i asked and i got some cuttings from other self fertilise varieties and hopefully next year I'll have fruits. I also bought similar small vacuum like yours for collecting the pollen. Wish me luck. I wish you were close so you could give me a cutting from your plants with those beautiful red/purple flowers. Thank you for your videos. Greetings from Crete Greece

Absolutely brilliant demonstration. There is always something to learn. Gardening is my passion, and this just happens to be a wonderful treat. Which reminds me, is that pollinating process which prompts the names of pollinated plants, and, or new ones, called the term hybrids? For example, as I believe is done with passion fruits?
@tristardragonfruit4 ай бұрын
Correct. That’s how people hybrid new fruits

@tristardragonfruit Жыл бұрын
Yes but make sure your pollen isn’t wet or else it can be bad. Collecting pollen and storing them saves space and it’s more prefer method than just throwing the entire flower in the fridge.

Very nice collection of dragon fruit! I have that keyboard vaccuum and wow is it a gamechanger! I've checked all your videos and can't find any information on the black tubing / hose that you have attached to the tomato cage. Is it a garden hose or irrigation tubing? I've been using the tomato cage, reinforced with the steel pipes, and PVC pipe. I attached the 4 pvc pipe sections with rubberized wire, that I get at Home Depot. Unfortunately, my dragon fruit plants got too large (and unbalanced) and all ended up falling over! My solution has been to start all over and try cutting the branches on the 3rd ring, NOT the top ring! This appears to be a great solution, as my demo has not tipped over! My son came over and noticed the solution has really worked out! From now on, all my future plantings will be cut above the 3rd ring of the tomato cage.

What would you do? The flower didn’t take and aborted. But I also may have used the wrong pollen. Thanks
