Very helpful video. Whats your thought on using the Automatic color correction tool available in Davinci resolve?
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I wouldn't bother with the Automatic Color Correction.The steps in the video here should take less than a minute to do once you have practiced it, so the Automatic Color Corrector is more trouble than it is worth as it usually doesn't get it right a 100% and you still need to fiddle with it to fix it! ! :)

Great content! Thanx. But what, if the clip doesn't have any white in it?
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If the clip doesn't have any whites in it, you'll want to make a judgement call of what you want to consider the brightest part of the image and balance it.

@@coffeebeanstudio Thank you. Eagerly waiting for your upcoming videos. Also, just a small tip for the color page, color correction and grading series for beginners: Most of the tutorial series on Davinci Resolve's Color page do not include practice files for following along. Can you please make sure that you add a link to the footage so that viewers can follow along?

I've always been lost doing color correction. Thanks to another excellent tutorial from you I now have a much better plan for doing it. Could you please post a link to the two videos you used during this tutorial as you did in your previous videos? Having the same footage you used is one of the things I like most about your videos. It makes it a lot easier for us to follow along. Thanks.

Thank you Neil. You are so welcome, and I am glad this video has helped. Apologies for not uploading the follow along footage, that was a mistake from my part. I have now updated the description - Here's the link for your convenience - coffeebeanstudio.gumroad.com/l/foursteps :)

Yes, sure. I used to do it for my previous videos but I wasn't sure if people were finding it useful, and it was taking quite some time to do it. But if it is helpful, I'll surely keep doing it. Thanks for the feedback.

Excellent walkthrough, dare I say "step-through!" 😂 All the way through I kept thinking, I thought Mr Bean said "4 steps." I guess a better title would be "4 Nodes to Great Color Correction." Ah, but it is such good information and a reliable method to apply across all footage, so who is counting steps anyway!? I benefitted hugely and appreciate the time you put in making this video. Thank you❗
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
Hey Jer! How are you? Glad you enjoyed it! And thank you! I think your 4 Nodes is a great suggestion!! I should have used that during filming. I was struggling to find an elegant way to say that the first step, although it sounds like 3 different "steps", is actually a single action that you'll do quickly with experience, but I don't think I communicated that well. Well, we live and learn! :)

another excellent video. Thankyou. Question: when I hover over whites or blacks with the color picker in my videos there are no indications on the Parade scopes. Was this added for the tutorial or a feature I can turn on? I have 18.5 Studio version
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Murray. Thanks for watching and I am glad you liked the video. Please click the three dots near the Parade scopes, and in the dropdown select 'Qualifier Focus'. That'll get the indicators visible for you.

I'm really enjoying your videos. I have a problem understanding your critiques of the red, blue and green graphs. I can't really discern what you're talking about. I don't really know how to read them...
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for watching and I am glad that you are enjoying it. The red, green and blue graphs are the histograms for every channel of colour. The taller the graphs are, the more prominent (brighter) the colour is, and the shorter the graph is, the less prominent (darker) the colour is.
@GiuseppeRandazzo-jy2xn Жыл бұрын
Hi ... the video look nice but unfortunatelly i don't know what "balance" mean when you talk about shadow, mid tone and hilight (playing with red, blue and green). Is there a level they have to reach? Are they have to be at the same high? Do you have any video about colour wheel and ho to use them?
@coffeebeanstudio Жыл бұрын
To "balance" something, it means to make the "height" of the point across the red/green/blue the same. I don't have a video about the colour wheel just yet, but it is something that I have planned for an upcoming video. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

@coffeebeanstudio thanks for replaying me so fast. You used some profile colour from the camera, but what happens if I have only a flat color like on the Dji Mini 3 Pro drone? Can you explain colour correction using all the tools on the colour page? Maybe you can do that in more steps. Thank a lot anyway.

Hi Vikram. please clearify for me, is this method of color correction also works with Log footage? Shall one should convert the Log footage first into REC 709 or managing it's color space through Color Management then apply your method?
@coffeebeanstudio8 ай бұрын
My preferred approach would be to add a colour space transform node at the end of your node graph and then do the changes explained in nodes prior to the cst node. The cst node should be setup to change the clip from log to rec709.
