This is art, art might not be to everyone's taste as noted by the people below, but it's still beautiful. I really appreciate learning how the tools that I know well were used to create this piece of art. I just found your tutorials and I find them interesting and inspirational. Thank you and sorry about the haters.

Thank you so much for the comment! Indeed, there are a lot of people who dont like the editing the way I do it, but thats ok as long as they dont try to dictate what is allowed what not :-)

Excellent work as usual, and I'm impressed by your understanding of colour temperature and its implications for changing an image like this. I would definitely have left the flagpole in though, but it's your photo and your decision.

Thank you so much Mike! The flagpole is just so distracting to me haha

Amazing edit. Can you also advise what were your camera settings, what lens did you use and if any ND filters were used?
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! To get the water smooth I shot a 4 Minute long exposure, therefor I had to use a very strong ND filter since it was still daytime!

Great edit and some good tips! For the average user would you say the full TK panel is worth it? In other words, how much of the added functionality of the paid version do you regularly use and how do you value it?
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! For the average user it might be a bit much, but if you plan to push your editing skills I would totally recommend it. I certainly cant live without it anymore haha

Please explain why you did some of the color work in Photoshop instead of doing it in Lightroom. Thank you for your excellent tutorials!
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Eric! I guess I could have done EVERYTHING in Lightroom, even the things I did in PS here. As I was editing the first version of this shot (before recording the video) I used Photoshop to clean up the image, and then I just played around with different things like the luminosity masks to further enhance it. BUT, this could have been done using the range masks I already used in Lightroom earlier for this image. So basically, Photoshop was more about cleaning up the image if that makes sense :-)

Hallo! Wie hast Du die 242 sec. gemacht? Oder mehrere Bildern hast du gemacht?
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Danke für die Frage! Das ist tatsächlich nur ein Bild. Zum Aufnehmen habe ich einen starken ND Filter verwendet damit es nicht überbelichtet wird

Can I ask you why you select luminance on the graduated filter and not colour?
@theDarkLord903 жыл бұрын
Because he's targeting the highlights of the image, which is a combination of multiple bright colors. You can also achieve this by the 'color' option though it will target only a specific color in this image.
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
As Sourodeep pointed out I'm targeting the highlights. With the color range mask I wouldn't get all the areas I want in the sky for example :-)

Are those plugins available for us or we have to buy it ..?
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Those plug ins aren't free, but if you're a bit deeper into editing I highly recommend at least the nik collection plug in
@johnmonreal36392 жыл бұрын
Hi… there are a few different NIK collections. Which one did I you use in this tutorial? Thx.

what nd filter did you use thank you
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
As it was stilly daytime I had to use a very strong ND filter to get the 4 minute exposure. In this Case it was a ND1000 (cheap no name brand)

@ThePhlogPhotography2 жыл бұрын
You can find it here goodlight.us/panels-and-videos.html
@sepp98763 жыл бұрын
A perfect example on how to overedit. The original image looked perfectly fine and natural. The edited image definetly not. The same for the "standard" way of editing by bringing down highlights and increase shadows on each and every photo, just for the sake of doing it, it just does not make any sense on every shot.
@ThePhlogPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Ok just because you think the base image is fine doens't mean everyone has to agree with your taste. There are no rules that dictate what you can and cant do with editing so why not just let people do what they like to do? Of course you can say you personally dont like the end result which is totally fine, that just means we have differnt tastes here
