It's hard to believe such a powerful tool is free.

You can right click on the slider and type in the desired value. Or hover with the mouse over the slider and use the mouse wheel. Way easier that way

Thanks for pointing that out! It is not obvious in the interface, even after right-clicking.

@@robsheaAdditionally when you right click you can grab the white line which comes straight down in there (I don’t know what to call it) and adjust the values. The further down you grab it the finer the adjustment, the higher the coarser. That is probably my favorite way of fine adjustment. In your last video you did set the white balance in the white balance module. Since the version 3.8 (i think) the scene referred workflow is recommended and the white balance module is there only for technical reasons. To adjust the wb you should use the cat tab in the color calibration module. For that you have to set the workflow in the setting -> processing to scene referred and the “auto apply chromatic adaptation” to modern.

@@jorghaschke1033 Thanks for all of the tips! I'll need to add some of these to future dt videos. I followed your steps, read the darktable docs on the `modern` white balancing method, and got it to work. There wasn't a noticeable difference compared to the `legacy` white balance method. Is Chromatic Adaptation Transformation more impactful in visible light images? I'm going to explore this further and try on some different images. Thanks!

@@robsheaNo problem. I had to go through all the stuff for the last few months. I’m still learning but I’m confident enough now that I ditched Photoshop. I don’t know all the science behind the scenes. it has something to do the way the pipeline is working. Check out the videos from studio petrikas, he has some good one about basics, filmic and highlights recovery. Also Boris Hajdukovic is a great source and of course Aurelien Pierre the developer of filmic and color balance rgb. Aurelien’s videos are quite technical and long but provide a lot knowledge.

Using it on an M1 MacBook Air, you cannot make the app the sliders work ok, but none of the presets work? Whichever one you select, nothing happens? Is there a support team?

I have a MacBook Air M1 and confirmed the presets issue. It's a known bug being worked on here: github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/12727
