Thank you! For those taking notes: 1. Get the white of the eye 2. Find the color of the iris 3. Find where the light is coming from and as a result find the light side of the iris (opposite the light source) 4. Add the dark color to the pupil and use that color to darken part of the iris that is not in light 5. Add the highlight

right I absolutely love that you explained what and how along with why. just being told what to do and how to do it doesn't really help much because you don't really learn anything from it. you're just doing what you've been told will work. but knowing why something is done the way it is done means I can apply that knowledge to different scenarios on my own and it actually would look right. I've watched tons of eye tutorials but this one has got to be the most helpful one
@nhiedre4 ай бұрын
This principle actually applies to most things; you learn better when you understand the why etc. Whenever I run into a new medical term in my work, I don't just go "oh I'll just memorize this then" but I look up what it means, what's the context and that really helps me remember. (no I'm not a nurse or a doctor but otherwise working in the medical field)

@lyssabug28874 ай бұрын
Ya know, what I really love about this, like Sam said, is that now I actually know the ‘why’ behind how it’s colored- I subconsciously knew it was just how it was, and I color eyes similar- put a darker base, add more vibrant/brighter color to the bottom of the iris, then a highlight opposite from that, but I never really questioned it 😂Thanks for your easy-to-consume explanation for my wee art baby brain, haha

I like to place the highlight so it crosses the border between the iris and sclera (when it makes sense for the light source ofc), otherwise the whites of the eyes can look flat in comparison to the iris, if there's no highlight on them.

@Yakoo4523 күн бұрын
Of course it was, none of these pro's use default brushes and I wouldn't either if I were them, but they tell us what default brush to use while they use custom and act like we can get the same results, which if true, wouldn't require them to make custom brushes
