Something that hurts me the most is I gained the courage to come out to my mom and I did it on a car ride when it was just me and her. She did ask me questions, but she just wanted to understand it. Then I found out that she outed me to my dad, and I was so upset because of how ignorant and shallow my dad is. Even afterwards he'd make just- disgusting remarks about my sexuality right in front of me, and openly say the offensive words. And then he tells me that he isnt against being gay. and then last christmas, he outed me to his entire side of the family and I literally ran and cried in the bathroom. He talked about it as if it was a phase. All because for christmas my best friend got me a pan flag. And it hurts me everyday to live in a home with someone I know thinks that way.

@@Koda905 HEHE, I didn't. At the end of the day some adult friends told me it may not have been the best idea, and it was not that well prepared. But I did come out to her eventually (as pan and non-binary). Ofc, she didn't take it the best way, but we respectfully disagreed with each other, and clarified that this would not affect the good relationship we had. Well...she still makes me wear a dress to church, and didn't let me go to pride...and I don't think right now she would actually look for actual info on LGBT+ stuff, but at least I was able to talk it out to her, and now my shoulders weigh less. Ofc she doesn't let me do some stuff because I'm still 15, but I'll be independent eventually. At least I don't have to hide it when I watch LGBT content, because she already knows what I think. So it is not exactly a state of accepting it nor denying it. It feels more like we made a truce or something for some reason.
@Fai-Fai Жыл бұрын
@widojay2048 Thank you! Yeah, we have a decently good relationship. We do stuff together, I show her stuff I like and she enjoys it, it's more like a "We don't talk about bruno" (or in this case LGBT stuff) type of thing. I know it's not exactly healthy, but we are planning on going to a psycologist eventually some day when we have enough money to do so (We are still establishing ourselves here in the US). With pronouns and stuff there isn't really any problems or anything. Mostly because we speak mostly in spanish at home, and my pronouns in spanish are any, while in english are They/Them. So for now we are mostly ok, we just don't really talk about it

i'm watching this because i really want to come out to my mum. she's the only family i have (i'm an only child and my dad left when i was little and never was interested enough to call or see me so we aren't close). she's my best friend and i tell her everything and it hurts so much to keep something this important from her. she's an awesome person and the one i love the most. i've known for so long that i'm bi and i used to think taht she would be understanding, but i accidently came out to her once and she screamed to me really badly and then forgot about it with time. she's still 100% convinced i'm straight and i'm afraid to tell her otherwise. i don't think she would ever kick me out or anything like that but i really hate fighting with her or being in bad terms with her since i love her so much and she means so much to me. i don't know what to do because i don't feel like i can keep it in any longer. this helped me clear my thoughts a little bit so thank u

I’m in the exact same situation as you. I have no idea if I’m gay or bi as I do feel emotionally attracted towards women but primarily physically attracted towards men and I’m still so confused. I really want to come out to my mom, not because I have a same-sex partner that I want her to approve of but because I just want to know that she loves me no matter what I identify as. However, I’m terrified to tell her because I know she’s kind of homophobic, but I love her so much and can’t live without her, and I just have no idea what to do. I’ve been crying about this for so long and I just want my mom to accept me.

Hi, so I’m well ‘straight’ that’s what I thought until I started looking at this girl a different way…and that way being more than friendly. I continuously look at her and smile and we are always joking with eachother, she is bisexual and asks me sometimes if I like girls or something, the reason for that is because I always call women pretty or hot or whatever (which they are). And basically sometimes when she laughs and we look at eachother she then grabs my arm and laughs into it or she leans her head on my shoulder or a part of my body. I mean every so often we lean our heads on one another’s and we also hug quite regularly, we have lots in common. Alsooo from what I’ve seen she doesn’t do any of this with anyone else in the friendship group but I’m still unsure and like I haven’t figured out who I am or what I am and so I’m really confused rn cuz well to everyone else I’m straight but deep down inside I feel as tho I may not be but I don’t have a clue. I just wanted to know if you could help me figure out if this girl likes me… I kinda held her waist yesterday and like we were there for a few mins but just I’m not sure. Hopefully you see this, I’ve only just seen your account and I’m very grateful for it :)

Ok, I'll be coming out today (or this week if I chicken out but whatevs) so I'll be using this as a checklist first. Thank You for making this video, it really helped ❤ 1) I am safe, as far as I know, they don't support the LGBTQ+ community but they'd never do something against me that would make me be unsafe 2) I am ready, I'm just scared 🥲 3) I've tested the waters and they usually say pretty stupid stuff about the LGBT community 4) I have LGBT friends and my girlfriend is really supportive about all this 5) Yes, I'm prepared, don't worry 6) Again, I'm prepared. I've been preparing for a long time now and I think it's time I told them 7) They'd never kick me out, but I DO have a backup plan just in case 8) THAT'S the main reason why I haven't told her yet, CRAZY things have been happening lately and I just haven't found the right time to tell her yet OK: I've already told my mom in the past that I think I like the girl that I am now dating. We've been dating for two and a half weeks now and my mom still doesn't know. That's the main reason why I want to talk to her now. I'll let you all know how it goes! Byeeeee

@@sapphicstatic_noises I told my mom that I was dating my gf and I think that I'm lesbian. At first she was very shocked (as would be expected) and she was pretty mad/upset tbh. I thought it was because I was dating a girl, but she was just overall shocked that I was just overall dating and thought it was the wrong time to start. She did say that she thought I was rushing me decision about my sexuality and said she didn't want me to "miss out" on any other partners. But after a couple weeks blew over, we both got more used to the idea and things and had a couple more conversations about it all. My mom still isn't supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community, or my "hasty" decision but she'd really supportive of me and said that the most important thing is that I find a partner who loves me and can make me happy - regardless of their gender and sexuality.

Hey guys.....my coming out story is pretty bizarre and to be honest this rollercoaster isnt even over yet. About a two year ago i told my brother then my sister that i was bisexual. I came out to my mom with thier help about a few weeks later. She was great about it. She started asking me about how i knew and at the time i didnt know how to answer. My mom eventually told my dad about a month later. I never got his full reaction because i wasnt there. Anyways i got the courage to ask my mom if i could tell the rest of my family and my friends...all i want to be is myself. She said no. This was the down hill part of my life....when she said no it changed EVERYTHING. Saying no was like not letting me be my true self because SHE was afraid of what others thought. Of course i tried again and she said no again. This lead to my saddness...and my self harm..and my mental health issues. My mom never found out about any of this. Its been a year and a half and i was doing better....but now all of this is overwelming again. I wanna come out to everyone i wanna be myself for rea. (note that im doing a little better) i need to tell my mom how i feel but i dont know when the right time is. It dosebt help the fact that alot of times they say eww when a girl or guy kiss .....and no they havent forgotten i was bi, i think there just avoiding it hoping its a phase. I think im in love with this girl in 2 of my classes. 2 years ago we started talking and i adneadtitly fell 4 her. We was going to date but my mom said no....which leads to now when we c eachother in school. But she has a girlfriend now and my heart breaks seeing them together. What do i do? (thinks for staying till the end if u did it really means alot.) This is my coming out story and its still going on a long journy. Thank u fellow listeners. (also if ur wondering im 15 years old and a girl)

I wish you luck on your journey!! (From a 29 year old bisexual woman who hasn't come out to her parents quite yet) You seem like a brave a strong person, keep going! There is a bright future ahead of you somewhere, even if it's difficult getting there and it's not perfect. I hope you will find/be able to build a close support system in due time. Take care of yourself and be true to yourself, even if it's in little ways! :D Love and support from a fellow LGBTQ friend. ❤️

Tip for those wanting to come out to their parents but are worried about how they’ll react: don’t say something like “mom, I’m gay” because terms like “gay” or even “homosexual” might have baggage attached. People can, and often do have Pavlovian conditioning around those terms. In essence, even if real disapproval of homosexuality doesn’t authentically exist within them, using those terms can bring out any unwanted and harmful associations which may be present, so you simply avoid labels when you tell them. Instead, what you do is just describe your experience to them. Instead of telling them that you’re attracted to your same gender, tell them about how you’ve never been attracted to someone of the opposite gender - again - it’s just a far less loaded way of getting the important information across. Tell them about the confusion that came when you were growing up and never liking the same gender that your friends did, and how it felt to constantly wonder if there was something wrong with you. Make them understand that this isn’t some fashioned identity, and the person they’ve known this whole time is the same one who’s speaking now. The only difference is that they know the truth now. They need to understand this. They need to accept that the child they loved this whole time was the same person all along and nothing has, or needs to change. If you love your parent(s) and don’t want to risk them, but you also feel like denying who you are to those closest to you has become unbearable, this was absolutely the best advice I can give to maximize your chances of acceptance.

Keep in mind that coming out in my opinion should be personalized based on your family. For some families you should have a one on one with them explaining it, for some you can bake a cake or do something funny if you live in a family like that, and for others it’s best not to come out at all if your not safe

I recently came out to my whole family at a family reunion. I literally got on the table on told them all I had to say something important, I took out my bisexual flag and told them everything. Everyone was extremely accepting, except for my homophobic aunt but she can go f*ck off. I did use your tips and it helped a ton! Thank you!❤ Edit: I know I shouldn’t have done it at a family reunion but I really wanted everyone to know who I was. I also just wanted to tell my parents I’m dating a girl (_ _).。o○

I’m still getting ready to fully come out and, it’s tricky! Especially when you think your parents are gonna be mad, or not support you! Here’s a tip, if you think you’re not ready to come out in person, just text your parent! It will be a lot easier and you won’t be as stressed. Hope this helps, you got this! 💪

It was a quiet evening when I decided it was time. The air felt heavy with unspoken words, like everything around me knew I had something to say, but I wasn’t sure how to say it. My parents had always been loving and supportive, but this felt different. I wasn’t just sharing a part of me-I was revealing something that I had spent years trying to fully understand myself. We were all sitting in the living room, the TV on low in the background, as usual. I felt my heart beating in my chest like it might burst through my ribs. I didn’t know what had changed, but something inside me clicked, and I knew I couldn’t keep this secret anymore. It wasn’t just about them accepting me; it was about accepting myself. “Mom, Dad,” I began, my voice a little shakier than I intended. “There’s something I need to tell you. It’s kind of personal, but I think it’s time you knew.” They both looked at me, waiting. My mom smiled softly, sensing something was about to change, but still unsure what it was. “I’m bisexual,” I said, almost whispering, as if saying the words out loud would make them real for the first time. There was a pause. Just a few seconds, but it felt like hours. My parents exchanged a glance, and I could see their minds racing, trying to process the information. Finally, my mom spoke. “Is that why you’ve been so quiet lately?” I nodded, surprised at how much her words comforted me. She didn’t seem upset, just… curious. “Yeah, I think I was trying to figure it all out in my own way.” My dad leaned forward, eyes full of care. “We just want you to be happy. You know that, right?” I could feel the weight in my chest lift a little, like a veil had been lifted. “I know,” I said, the relief flowing through me. “I just needed to say it out loud.” My mom reached over and took my hand. “We’re proud of you for being brave enough to tell us. You’re our kid, and that doesn’t change. Nothing changes.” It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t an earth-shattering revelation. But it was real. I could see the love in their eyes, and that was all I needed in that moment. We spent the rest of the evening talking. Not about the “what now,” but just about life-about what had been going on in my world. And somewhere in the conversation, I realized: this wasn’t just a conversation about my sexuality. It was a conversation about being true to myself, no matter what. The world felt a little bit lighter after that night. And though I knew the road ahead might not always be easy, I also knew I wasn’t walking it alone. I hope that story resonates with your experience or gives you a foundation for reflecting on your own journey. How did you feel when you first came out? What did that moment look like for you?

Lol I had been thinking about coming out to my family for the whole week before I came out and then on the Saturday that I came out I was watching TV with my brother and he started teasing me about liking a boy (I didn’t like him) and I was like “actually I like girls” and he immediately was like “so do you like (girls name) then?” (I did). Then I just went downstairs and came out to the rest of my family.
