Thank you guys. I love how you guys show some skills instead of just talking about it. A lot of times, I’d research some videos online just so I can fully understand what divers talk about

Why not use bailout cylinder gas to inflate smb? Bottle based one is just something else to maintain?
@everythingscuba3 жыл бұрын
Ben, you absolutely could use your bailout regulator to inflate your SMB. The mini cylinder is one more thing to maintain you are correct, but super convenient when you want to use it. On our channel we are by no means saying you "must" do things one way or the other. Every diver should make that decision for themselves and what works best for them. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

I want to know where I can buy the Ap rebreather
@everythingscuba2 жыл бұрын
We have contact information in the description of the video for Instructor Mark Nevin who works with Silent Diving in the USA who are distributors for AP Inspiration Rebreathers.

7:25 Looks like he took 5 breaths from his rebreather with the exhaust valve closed, basically stealing air from the rebreather. I was surprised that the bladder held that much. To me, this is not a good procedure as a bailout can mean you cannot breathe off the rebreather at all -- flooded for example.
@everythingscuba2 жыл бұрын
The AP Inspiration mouth piece has the ability to switch from closed to an open circuit. You will note that instructor Nevin switched into an open circuit mode, which is one way to bail out of CC mode but the ultimate solution is if you need to you can then bailout to your alternate side slung bottle. You are correct, that if the rebreather flooded you would essentially come fully off the rebreather directly to your bottle. But flooding is a rare event, therefor initial training is to bailout to open circuit mode and the. Make the region to bailout to your alternate cylinder. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

@@everythingscuba Oh. I thought he closed the exhaust side. but he switched to open circuit. I think the confusing part is when..."Now [he's] breathing from the diluent inside the rebreather" at 7:34.
@everythingscuba2 жыл бұрын
@@toddshoemaker4285 correct when you switch to open circuit you are breathing diluent side.
@toddshoemaker42852 жыл бұрын
@@everythingscuba Makes sense now. In this system, the diluent is a small bottle within the rebreather but external to the closed circuit.
@everythingscuba2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. It is a small bottle. But it can function both with closed circuit mode since you need diluent to “dilute” oxygen content within the closed circuit but also operates as the gas source when you switch to open circuit.

This is crazy. It would be science fiction if it weren't a reality.

Believe it or not rebreathers have a longer history than open circuit scuba. Today's eCCR's are a far cry from what was invented over 100 years ago
