This chat really highlights the issues with the current training model, I've recently put myself through my level 2 & 3 2365, 18th edition and now working on my nvq portfolio. Enrolled a month ago and don't know where to start there's minimal support from my employer so feels pretty bleak at present. Currently looking for opportunities outside of my primary job to get the experience I need.

Such a common situation sadly. Where are you based? Where did you train? Will try help if I can.

@@A121podcastthanks, sorry delayed reply. I'm based in Farnborough, my training is with able skills, to be fair they've been really good. The main issue for me is that my workplace has limited installation work so it's though to find work that I can get involved with.

Enjoyed this Mark nvq is a hard one it was shrouded in mystery for me and I was worried about it I didn’t realise c&g site had a breakdown on it on their site. Thanks guys for shining a light on things for us sometimes it can be daunting trying to work it out on your own

I really enjoy the discussion, I recently migrated to the Uk, and wanted to continue working in the electrical field, I have started my c&g level 2 and level 3, and is trying to find an employer to gain some experience, it’s been really difficult

Taking the 2346 experienced worker route - I think you are right about the initial assessment. There’s so much to cover in this subject. Let’s face it if your doing domestic and not doing commercial or industrial why are you being taking on to do the evidence? Going to be honest I’ve paid and made up a ‘practice board up’ in my spare time outside of work and it’s just not been ok to use as evidence - and why would it? The knock back of that mentally is a struggle. Trying to get the evidence has been the hardest thing - I’d like to know more on the subject of video evidence or a slow Timelapse? Could that be used as an alternative? I’m gearing up to start a fresh but it’s been a long time coming. I’m also wondering now is it worth going back to the college and saying look I know you have a lot of learners but could you make an exception and do a couple of site visits over 3 months. Feel like there’s so much left to to the learner but as you mention before if deeper discussions were had earlier on maybe more progress could of been achieved. The longer the process goes on, the more financial loss it takes because without clear progression your just delaying your sense of achievement.

Hi, i am doing 2357. Started it with another company years ago who didn't meet the requirements at all and provided me with 0 support. I am coming back to it after quite a few years, i need to get it done but without any support i feel completely lost. The assessor is very lax and not supportive either. Do you have any advice on where to start, is there any kind of framework that can be followed in order to start punching the evidence in?

Great video but Craig's finger flashing up and down was very distracting.

Not sure how to react on the information that become an outcome of this video.. For a people who are re-train and has a passion in electrical work , want to become qualified sparks and get a knowledge very slim chance to get their goal. Employer only wants a profit from your work and not contributing to anything else…

Employers have their own worries tbf. This is something for industry to solve and bring value towards.

Almost 0 information, just moans about "how we need to improve the system" and "how important not to cheat doing ur portfolio". Don't waste your time. Better read a book.

Thanks for taking the time to feedback. This isn't in place of reading books. That's essential. I'm also working to help change the system. Along with moaning. Good luck with the portfolio and remember not to cheat through watching how to videos on the Internet
