Thats real deal body work! He should consider eye protection from dust while leveling with filler or other work that produces dust especially metallic dust. I’m confident he reviewed 3m’s literature to determine which filter type best protects for that application prior to the onset of work. Hope so.

That came out awesome but since I’m in the northeast and hate rust, I would have epoxy prime the whole truck before laying filler over the welds.
@inthehomeshop3 жыл бұрын
If I had the time, it would've been put into epoxy first. However, I personally let epoxy sit a week to cure before starting the following processes. If going over bare metal, prep it thoroughly, be sure to press the mudwork into the scratches for proper adhesion, and get it primed asap. To seal it up. As you saw, I still put 1 medium coat of epoxy over everything and let sit overnight before topping with polyester.

Body shell looks great. Quality body work and blocking is more of an artform that an occupation. I spent days blocking/filling/priming the bed sides of my truck and still missed a couple spots.

One question I have always wondered...If the interior is stripped clean, what does it matter if it is masked off or not? It's gonna be covered with (fill in blank) anyway. Also the factory didn't mask just spray and go. It's something you see on all the car build videos and shows, but no explanation as to why.
@inthehomeshop3 жыл бұрын
A number of reasons. For me personally, I paint for a living and we always cover the interior. Dirt, dust, etc can blow out no matter how much blowing out you do. Its always easier to spray and/or sand on a clean surface
@phemmeke3 жыл бұрын
Jeremy must be freaking on the overspray. Looks nice man.

The lizard skin sprays pretty easy...there is a little over spray on the cowl...but like Jeremy said we will still give it a once over before we apply the actual finish paint.
