Informal study. Nationwide fedral court trademark and criminal ongoing negligence intellectual Property Theft. I’ve not heard back from your law firm. Perhaps the receptionist didn’t forward my representation request. It seems as a concrete beyond a reasonable doubt exhibited with evidence of burden of proof of my allegations. I’ll try again, and thanks Attorney Steve; I learn a lot from your videos. Sincerely, David Marc Nims. 11/25/2021

How do you ask for production of documents? Do you mail them the question or does it have to go through the court? I can’t seem to find how you’re supposed to ask

Check your local rules, but in general, you draft up your request and serve it on all other parties in the case. The court does not want to see all that. If there is a motion to compel discovery, then you might point out some of the questions to the Court. Again, general rule here. SV

You’re my litigation hero, Attorney Steve. Before I even knew what “informal discovery” was I was doing “oppo research” on my enemies ... ahem! ... I mean “adversaries” and their slimy attorneys. One of them was such a slop-meister, he was a jack of all trades, master of none. He did “real estate, business AND employment law!” It was just a two-man shop. He was even listed in the CA bar under TWO TOTALLY different names, one of them very similar to another attorney. VERY FISHY! On his website he claimed to being so persuasive with his client’s adversaries (e.g. me, for instance), that he could save his clients money by not litigating. But all he did was piss me off and make me want to litigate all the more. As a non-attorney, I beat the pants off him. Out of $32,000 in claims, I was awarded $28,000 - without a general release or NDA. Definitely - *“Know Thy Enemy.”*

Steve Vondran I wonder if you have any thoughts about producing some videos that are geared toward a more consultative relationship between client and attorney. Oftentimes, a client hires an attorney and s/he just runs with the case, especially if the attorney has taken the case on contingency. Most of the time, the layperson client just goes along for the ride. However, I had a case where I was represented, the attorney just ran with the ball, but way down the road one of the discovery experts on my team informed the onus was really on me “to prosecute the case.” What she meant by that was that I should’ve been playing a more active role. I don’t plan on ever becoming an attorney, and with case law, law is an ever-changing battleground. I’d be interested to see you do a video (or even a small series) on how the client can play a more active role in the litigation process. Of course, we hire attorneys because they’re presumably knowledgeable, but as more legally sophisticated clients, how can have more visibility into the nuts and bolts of our specific cases as they unfold?

Steve Vondran Also, Attorney Steve, I just became the lead plaintiff in a class action. If you decide to do a series on this more wholistic attorney-client relationship, perhaps you could give us non-attorneys some pointers on things we should advocate for ... and how to do so while maintaining a great relationship with our attorney(s).
