Mate - You are seriously the man.!! - Thank you! I hope to God - You are here to help to apply the same principles with IPv6 as IPv4 won't be around forever... - I had to change my IP settings to what you had - Then things started to work.. - I was on 10.192.12.0 network but this wasn't working - However your 10.0.0.0 one does. For anyone confused, and following the video step by step - The default Gateway (TCP/IP Settings) on the VM Client needs to be set to 10.0.0.2, and the Preferred DNS should be whatever your DC is - For me my DC was 10.0.0.10 - I can now hopefully start practising with getting IPhones tested with Exch 2010! You might want to change your wall paper though

I will answer my own question. The answer is YES! Well it worked for me thanks to this video. All in a domain and with internet access. Very cool. VM Workstation 9 also allows the VM's to run by themselves by acting as a server. Anyway, this is a really handy video...

Liked and subscribed for my little pony. In all seriousness, your technical information split up with a bit of humor is a nice vacation from a lot of the technical jargon on youtube. I love that youtube is essentially the aggregate sum of human knowledge in tutorial form, but some of it is so dry it is really hard to concentrate. I did lol at the my little pony breaks from the material. Keep up the good work!

So you're on your local home network, setup on the 10.0.0.1 range (because I find it easier to type). On that network is a NAS with useful stuff. All your VMs are on NAT using say 192.168.1.1, how do you then get access to the NAS from the VMs?

Thanks, that was very well presented. I am hoping with your NAT configuration I can create a domain controller and have other VM's join that domain. Would using NAT be the best way to run a network on a domain?

Hi Ryan, Hope you can help me with my problem, I have 2 Lan Card, Intel & Realtek, Both are using static PUBLIC IP. Intel is using 1 public IP no problem, I want my guest OS Windows 7 to use the Realtek static IP Address.. Is there a way to do this? I've tried to right click the realtek adapter and de select everything other than the VMware Bridge & make sure that the Network card being use on my Guest OS is the realtek, after putting the ipv4 details it can't connect to internet. Thanks :)

Hey Ryan... love the video you sound like a guy who is in the know.. ive got a lab environment with 3 servers connected to the same VNET8(NAT) all access internet fine and ping one another on that interface... the servers each have a second host only interface for their respective subnet how would you get the client of say your first server, to ping the second server.. thank you in advance

thanks for the video. but no idea why did you keep DHCP ticked when you are clearly using static IP in VM. Also if you still can't access internet after this configuration than adding new NIC to VM will do the trick. Adding NIC fixed internet access problem from VM..

Hey Just wanted to say Thank You. I've been working on some MS Certificates and needed this info for my virtual lab. And You made me laugh my balls off with My little Pony.
@TheTerminator31710 жыл бұрын
Also configuring DNS forwarders is not necessary for Internet access. My lab worked without any DNS forwarders. All you need to ensure is: 1) Configure NAT in network preferences. Make sure gateway IP in NAT settings is configured as gateway in VM too 2) Also obviously ensure gateway IP and IP given to VM are in same subnet 3) Right click on the VM from VMware workstation and click settings. Ensure VM is using NAT there 4) Configuring DNS forwarders is not required for Internet access. DHCP is also not required if VM is configured with static IP 5) No changes are required on the PC/Laptop network as long as you have internet access from there.

Im checking this video out in the library at the library and this little girl about 10 looks over every-once in a while it must your wall paper and not your NAT presentation! even tho its good. I tried to get this working at first by using a bridged connection but it wouldn't work, NAT works fine in Linux and Windows.
