How To Configure DHCP Relay On Juniper Switches

DHCP Relay, also referred to as an IP helper, is an option that is configurable to forward DHCP broadcast requests to a DHCP server that is not on the same subnet or VLAN as the requesting PC. In older versions of Junos you would need to configure a DHCP helper, and while it can still be used for forwarding of broadcast traffic over a layer 3 network, DHCP relay is specifically designed for the forwarding of DHCP packets over a layer 3 network. In this video we'll show you how to configure it on a Juniper switch running ELS.

Tnx. I wonder if anything is different on SRX config? if all services are allowed in zone config. I'm not getting any packets moved across when looking at the show system services dhcp relay-statistics Appreciate any ideas. also how you would describe the interface if the interface is a trunk? As a VLAN interface or an actual interface?

Are you testing with vSRX, or physical? For some reason I could not get DHCP relay to work on vSRX in our lab either, but the config is similar, depending on the model and software version

@@lameaveragetechies1040 tha only think I may note is the old EOL box. srx240h-Poe JUNOS Software Release [12.3X48-D105.4] And I didn't spend another night to find out about if maybe something can be related to it. Maybe just simply waiting to find out about some sort of obvious/common trick to make it run. Thank you for your reply.

Hi, are you using EVE NG professional, or community, is it worth buying license for eve ng pro ? what is big difference ?

We are using the community one. The Pro has a few benefits, but a company would benefit more I reckon. For instance, we cant save and restore startup configs, which would actually help with our labs. If you only want to use it to teach yourself the community version is sufficient 👍
