HOW TO CONFIGURE GAME CONTROLLER AND EXTERNAL MONITOR TO ANBERNIC RG35XX

I've just bought an RG35XX. It has Garlic OS preinstalled, so no idea what version (probably latest?). I then bought an 8bitdo SN30 pro wired version with xinput (i.e. NOT the wireless Bluetooth version). I then added the 'wait for usb' file etc. I then connected everything up (using an OTG usb, and plugging in power too). When I start the RG35XX it let's me navigate the menus (buttons not mapped correctly tho), but as soon as I start the game, the connected controller does not work with the game, only the RG35XX itself. It also does not show up in the controller list in Retroarch. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

You need to go into retroarch and map the inputs manually it’s a little tricky at first look for videos here basically you are assigning the new controller but then have to unassign when switching back to pocket mode

So, whenever I unplug my game controller from from the RG35XX (port 1), will it automatically get's back to the anbernic RG35XX gamepad (port 1)? Or do I need to configure this through Retroarch everytime I unplug my controller? Overall, nice detailed video!

I've experimented a bit with this and found out you can map both the controller and RG35XX gamepad to player 1 at the same time and save it so that the controller always works when plugged in. To do this, follow everything in this video, except for the end: At 1:59, after mapping the buttons and before you quit RetroArch, make sure to select "Save Controller Profile". THEN quit RetroArch and start a game of a core you want to use your controller with. Open the Quick Menu (Menu + X), navigate to "Controls" > "Port 2 Controls". Here you set "Mapped Port" to 1. Now go back once, go to "Manage Remap Files" and select "Save Core Remap File" if it's there, or "Update Input Remap File" if you don't have the first option. You will need to do this once for every core. Bonus: You can also remap so more buttons in the "Port x Controls" and save on a per-game basis in these menus, if you want to. I think that was everything I did. Now I can just plug in my controller/reciever, boot the handheld and jump/continue my game. My hotkeys (like fast forwarding and opening the quick menu) don't work on my controller, but I'm not sure if that is something I setup wrong or the default behaviour. Otherwise it works great!

It work, and switch dock is the best charger for rg35xx (7.5w)

Have you tried doing a bluetooth setup? I tried using a UGreen Bluetooth adapter and tried to connect my 8bitdo SN30Pro, but it has not worked. Also, I wished this was the first video KZbin recommended a week ago when I was searching for this setup. The other videos are loud and confusing.

it won't work with Bluetooth. but 2.4G should work.

the monitor doesn't have speakers, the audio still uses the console speakers.

not the author but i usually set it up on the TV itself. i cant switch it normally so going 4:3 on the tv settings is just hassle free although not nearly ideal
