You're a saviour man! :-) No, really - with your video I've got everything running as expected in less than 10 minutes! After spending a few hours trying to follow even the "official" documentation and forums, and… One big THANK YOU

Good. However I would have liked to see a deeper explanation about what scope and target scope are really about, and how they work. Thanks

Great video! Might be worthwhile to mention that DHCP clients needs to have their default routes with different priority too, by default they have same so I was puzzled that internet didn't work even though switch definitely happened in the route table
@scoop_distributionАй бұрын
Hi Ivan. Yes, that's a great point. Making sure to have different priorities on your DHCP clients' routes is crucial for a smooth transition between WANs. Thank you for the input.

@@scoop_distribution Hello, I did not understand this, what happens to me is that I have some VLANs configured and only the WAN2 connection works in the UNTAGGED VLAN but the VLANs with TAG 10,20,30, to give an example, when WAN1 is disconnected, They are left without connection and only the devices connected to the UNTAGGED network leave through the WAN2, do you know why this could happen?
@atefali97725 күн бұрын
Hi Ivan, how would you go about doing so? I have mimicked the settings just like Tim's. How would you go about doing what you're describing?

is it possible to add domain name based routing rules? e.g. some destinations use one wan while others use the other?
@reynaldorm38042 ай бұрын
Thank you very much very well explained and easy to understand, in the second route it would be redundant to do it recursively since it would not return to the first one if it is down, now it would make sense to do it in the second interface if there is a third route.

What Mikrokit device can I buy to do this procedure?
@scoop_distribution Жыл бұрын
This will work on any Mikrotik device which has multiple interfaces
@leratoradebe6438 Жыл бұрын
Awesome. For your next one can you make it about WAN load balancing and failover? Also, when will Scoop start selling Mikrotik books; MTCNA, MTCRE, MTCWE, MTCTCE, etc.? I can't seem to find them on anything but Amazon. Also, please start doing unboxings and reviews of your range of devices. Currently thinking of the upcoming Mikrotik ATL LTE18 kit, but I think the reviews will help when we search for them on Google and if you guys have a video and maybe a blog Google will show your content and make you the authority on those... vis a vis more sales for Scoop.

If both my WANs are PPPoE clients, I do not need the recursive routes or the check gateway right? Because if one PPPoE fails, it should automatically failover to the other one.

I get the overall concept but I need to be able to see the inputs you used on the screen longer. You need to add columns to your routes so that I can see all your inputs on one location and better see the big picture. Not all of us are "auditory" learners.... some need better visuals. The settings you used on individual screens are harder to keep track of than if they were all visible on the Routes screen.

did exactly as you explained and it works when manualy testing, but on every day use my first internet goes down like once every hour. when checking routes, one or both dns addresses is offline and never realy switches as they come back before it happens. :( causing about 30sec outage

Thanks for the excellent tutorial Tim. I believe Scoop must have a really awesome network setup, please may you show us your work network setup. The failover is really good, but how would you set up for situations when the main link is up but latencies are high, or the connection is intermittent?
@scoop_distribution Жыл бұрын
Thank you for you comments and we will definitely look at showing some more interesting setups. Netwatch would be more suitable for latency sensitive failover and would recommend checking out Mikrotik's video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3yTkoilaadoisU

how about multiple load balancing using 3 WANS or Multiple Failover using 3 WANs but 2 WANs are load balancing and if 1 fails the 3rd ISP or WAN will be active?

What about NAT? I have two WAN IPs which are public address from ISPs. Does one need to write two NAT rules for internet failover to work?
@scoop_distribution Жыл бұрын
We would recommend two separate src-nat rules

I think i will lose connectivity to the DNS declared in the specific routes, untill the ISP goes back online. The DNS added as recursive are always routed through the same ISP, so I won't have routes to those DNS thorough the secondary ISP. Is that right?
@scoop_distribution10 ай бұрын
Thats correct. These are just some examples of well known IP's that rarely become unreachable but you could replace them with something more preferable to your setup

If its a PPP interface then you can use the interface name as the gateway.
