I know this is digging up an old thread, but what would happen to the existing configured IP address in the below scenario. Existing single NIC with IP configured and used for management plus share access. Trunking enabled adding a second unused NIC plus the existing configured NIC to new LACP trunk. Is the IP configuration retained or does the new trunked interface revert to a default or DHCP derived IP configuration?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I am using a 2bay TS231P3 device with (2.5GbE and 1GbE ports) with an unmanaged QNAP 2.5Gbit switch. After setting both ports successfully to port trunking 2.5GbE + 1GbE balance alb, it can be seen that the bandwith value is shown as Adapter1+2 => 3.5Gbps. However, my maximum bandwith did not change => 270MB/s even though if I for ex. write/read from 2 different devices to NAS at the same time. According to the resource network monitor, Adapter-2 has almost no traffic (only few 4kb/s) whereas the whole traffic is on Adapter-1. Despite a successful port trunking, I cannot achieve any benefit from trunking. You mentioned in your video that the ports should have same speed, is this just a recommendation for an ideal connection or is this mandatory? If I cannot estabilish a port trunking with 2.5GbE + 1GbE, why do you provide 2 x such ports in this device? What is then the benefit of both ethernet ports at the same time if I cannot use them to increase my speed? Furthermore, why it is possible in the OS at all to combine the ports for port trunking? The OS shouldn't have let me to do this? Could you please give me a clear answer, whether it is possible like advertised or not?

I'm trying to set up a link aggregation between a TS-x53d and a managed hp switch. The switch is 802.3ad compliant and gives these hashing algorithm options: - Source MAC, VLAN, EtherType, Incoming Port - Destination MAC, VLAN, EtherType, Incoming Port - Source/Destination MAC, VLAN, EtherType, Incoming Port (This is the default selection) - Source IP and Source TCP/UDP Port Fields - Destination IP and Destination TCP/UDP Port Fields - Source/Destination IP and TCP/UDP Port Fields Which one matches layer 2+3 (MAC+IP) best?

Hello, I am considering bonding the two 2.5Gbe ports on my qnap TS-473A to my managed switch (Prosafe M4100). The switch lists the following Hash Modes: Source MAC, VLAN, EType, incoming port. Destination MAC, VLAN, EType, incoming port. Src/Dest MAC, VLAN, EType, incoming port Source IP and Source TCP/UDP Port Source/Destination IP and TCP/Port Enhanced Hashing mode (features MODULO-N operation) Also, the switch has LAG settings(enable/disable) for STP Mode, Admin Mode, Link Trap, and Static Mode The qnap side seems very straight forward but there to in the Managed Switch option of the LAG Setup Wizard it gives several modes. The Switch user manual seems to leave a lot out probably assuming I have a degree in computer science. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Beware I just tried this using general method without a managed switch, and i am now locked out. It said it was changing static ip , and it did, and qnap cannot find it unless I unplug the 2nd ethernet port, then it will find it, but it will not let me sign on, so I am locked out. Model ts-253d with 2x 2.5g ethernet ports.

Thanks guys! I'm about to be properly setting up our company show home network, ( 6 WAPs, 3-24port managed switch, a few endpoint switches, 3 vlans.. etc) but we just got a qnap and this was a quick solution to get me out of a bind! Needed a little more user capacity, and now I do!

Thank you for posting this. I am about to set up TP-Link ax110000 which has the capability of LACP via LAN 2 & 3. Is it worth setting this up if we have a few devices (3x TV's and a PS4) accessing the stored Files (Movies etc) from our Qnap at one time?

Do you have to use a switch? What happens if I run both lan lines from my Qnap Nas into two ports of my router?
