How to configure Spektrum with RSSI and VTX setup in Betafligt

Thanks for the video and links, works great with my DX8G2. Moved the RX wire to TX modified betaflight settings to SRXL and the other stuff. now finally I can change VTX settings using my remote only and I can mute the radio.

Awsome ive just had the spm4649t rx and unify pro vtx delivered, i will try to set it up like this tomorrow. Will be nice to have access to vtx and betaflight settings on the radio. On screen rssi will be nice too. Thanks for the video this would have taken me hours to work out, will probably get stuck along the way and be back with questions 😁 will let you know how its works out either way. Thanks again 👍

I tried it. Everything works exactly like you show. It is freaking awesome. I have been waiting for years for descent telemetry between spektrum and betaflight. Raceflight has had it for a little while and I have been jealous, because I want to stay with betaflight. Side story, I have been using the built in voltage telemetry in that receiver for a couple years. It does work but is gives tons of false alarms all the time. The transmitter was always beeping for low battery. So I turned down the voltage alarm, but once you set it low enough to not beep, it never beeps and your battery dies. So I built a tiny circuit with an op-amp, diode, and capacitor to slow down the voltage response. It worked fairly well, but not perfect. This new telemetry I just tried looks like it will work even better. I did the test where I turn the voltage supply down quickly and back up to simulate a voltage spike, and no false alarm. sweet. Anyway, thanks for the video. I am really happy.

Great video bro. My conf is this, I using a matek f722-std FC. 4649t promptly updated and Dx9. Flying well. Ihave two issues to ask to you, if you can help me. First, I tried to move blu wire from uart 2 RX to uart 2 tx, set betaflight as your instruction and....stop to receiving input from my radio. Why? F7 chip need the blu wire moving? I read that f7 no need special attention for rx-tx ports, is this the same case? You suggest to try uart 3 tx just to try or you know that I forgot somethings? Second, If I don't care about vtx setting by radio...I need in any case to connect smartaudio wire on vtx? Or is an additional/not essential function? My target is have rssi and voltage on OSD and voltage on display radio. For the second I can use the additional input port directly available on the 4649t...but rssi still be a problem. Yeah the RSSI is not dependent on smart audio and will still work smart audio that is just for VTX control

Thanks for the great video!! My question is, Now that I will have to use a spare channel as my RSSI channel in the receiver page will I loose any functions on that AUX channel for switch functions? I only have a DX6

Thanks for the video. I have a question about the wiring though. You said to hook up the blue (signal) wire to the TX port. Why is that? Doesn't the FC need it wired to the RX port?

Will Gilmour the receiver is bidirectional and in order for it to communicate back and forth you need it on the Tx for the UART

Big Lew FPV ok I'll give that a try. I just recently bought the SPM4649T and was having trouble with it always trying to bind every time I plug it in. Maybe this is related? I have always used the SPM4648 with no issues but his one is driving me crazy. Thanks again for the video and your reply. Question I'm using the tbs crossfire on dx9. drone wont arm unless on sbus but it just stays at 0 rssi on osd tried the receiver (Bidir SRXL)the reading on osd went to 50percent but won't arm????? Can u help me figure that out

Crossfire need to be set to the crossfire setting and not the SRXL setting then have telemetry on

Thanks . I updated the 4549 to the latest firmware but the RSSI is still not working. Quad flies, Smart audio works, telemetry to the radio works, but RSSI stays pegged at 99. Working on a Rcharlance F4 stack and it has been trouble from day 1. Had to connect the rx to uart6 to get it to fly as the factory wired plug on uart2 is always inverted and uart3 is factory wired for the vtx. Not sure what I'm missing , maybe it's something internal with this stack.

@@flyinwalenda some of the flight controller have issue try this turn on everything look at the task and them turn the radio off .also look at you receiver tab yo see if there is another channel that may have the on and don't assign any function to that channel in the radio

I have the RSSI on BF aux5 which is of course aux4 on the dx9. Aux4 has no switch assigned to it on the radio; it is inhibited. I also tried BF aux4 and it still pegged RSSI. Of course assigning DX9 switches to those aux channels and they work fine on the BF receiver tab. This controller has been the toughest one to set up yet with all of its issues so I wouldn't doubt it's an internal issue on the FC. I'm setting this one up for a fellow pilot so he can still get RSSI alarms through the DX9 if I can't get the OSD RSSI to work.

I wired and configured everything up right. All the telemetry features are working but my rssi doesnt work right. In the receiver tab it always shows a value over 2000 and it is always 99 on the osd. Any idea what's going wrong?

The 99% is a setting in the cli command that what is show by default unless you change the rssi range value it something you have to play with to get it to 100 but for me 99 is fine I played with the range but then set it back to default
