I struggled for hours with this, great video but one thing you have to mention... once connected turn gas on at the bottle then wait a minute for it to pressurize before lighting, otherwise you will get a low flame and it will burn out, also make sure to burn off excess gas before disconnect, hope it helps someone

I was getting tired of the green bottles and needed to know if I could use a big tank for my camp grill, and if so, what I would need to make that happen. This narrator seems like the kind of fella that knows his way around a propane tank, and related accessories. My question answered and this video was very helpful…I tell you h’wattt :)

Excellent and brief. I was in the hardware store yesterday and totally confused at the numerous hoses and adapters that claimed to work, some with regulators and some without. All with different size connections and none with instructions. I became frustrated and left. You said it right away, pointing to the regulator that is built in to the stove's 1 lb. propane connection.Thanks!

The pressure regulator is in that brass metal arm screwed into the side of the camp stove and also attached to the gas hose. Those little camp stove pressure regulators often have problems, but you need them to match up hose fittings I guess.

What would we do without Hank - the expert in all things propane? The little bottles can be refilled with an adapter made for that purpose. However the cost difference in using a 20 # tank exclusively is enough to warrant the purchase of the hose. I know you can refill those 16 ounce cylinders from a big propane tank as well. I’m not exactly sure how to do it, but people have done KZbin videos about that, so you could bring a bunch of little tanks and just refill them whenever you can get to a big tank.

Go to the Outdoor section of Walmart, buy the hose by Coleman. Works with my Coleman stove series 5469 hooked up to a 30 lb bulk tank. Make sure to check your install with some soapy water b4 lighting up and ALWAYS follow the manufacturers' safety guidelines.
@jonathantan2469
@jonathantan2469 4 жыл бұрын
The gas regulator should work with a large tank. However, large tanks may have a different connection fitting than the stove regulator. So you may need to buy the correct adaptor. In my country, most camping stoves & small gas tanks use a 3/8" fitting or (rarer) Primus fitting. Bigger tanks (> 10 pounds) usually have a different fitting.

Anybody know what regulator I need for 122,000 BTU tankless hot water heater for my motorhome? Never mind that's a complicated subject! I'll go read some more! All right, you can tell me but don't blow me up! I'm thinking it's the second stage, low pressure. The pressure I can deal with but my concern is getting adequate flow. It's a motorhome and I live alone; in a motorhome you get used to single usage. Sometimes depending on hook up you might not use all of your electrical appliances at the same time or you'll blow a fuse. So I'm not too worried about the size of the lines for the flow because I would only be using one gas appliance at a time. To be clear I am only concerned with the size of the line to supply 122,000 BTU water heater. I would not be using anything else simultaneously to affect flow. I believe a 1/2" line can easily supply enough flow for such a short run. So I can probably order a cheaper second stage low pressure regulator and T into the line going to the kitchen stove? Or should I T immediately after the first stage regulator? I believe the answer is to tie in at the closest opportunity. Unnecessary length reduces flow. If I'm on the right track with all of that, one question remains. If 1/2" line can provide enough flow, a regulator with half inch connectors will also provide enough flow? There is something I'm not understanding. All second stage regulators adjusted down to .4 PSI or 11 inches of water column are equal in terms of flow? Pipe diameter and length determines flow not the regulator itself? Or do I have to be careful which regulator I buy? A 1" regulator delivers more flow than one with 1/2" connections. But with the same pressure adjustment are there flow differences between regulators which have the same size connections. Or is that strictly determined by pipe size and length? Is there such a thing as high flow and low flow regulators of the same size connections? Nah! that doesn't make sense! Just like a water line, flow is determined by the pressure at the head and the diameter and length of the pipes. And excessive elbows restrict flow. okay I think I answered my own question but if I'm wrong about something please let me know! The size of the gas inlet on the unit.... Matching that should determine the line size... Line size would mean nothing if it's bottlenecked at the inlet. Pressure vs flow. But if you had a thousand foot line that would reduce flow. Wouldn't that also reduce pressure? So the regulator adjusts pressure. Can you still get pressure without flow? Ah, static pressure! But without adequate flow pressure drops off with usage and unit failure to operate properly.

How do you make a old propane camp stove adapt to a 20 pound bbq tank. I bought the hose to do it and it doesn’t fit the regulator on my stove. I’ve got a new regulator on order hoping that it will fix my problem. I don’t want to get rid of my stove cause I bought it used off of a hiker for 25 bucks. And it works perfectly fine on the little bottles

And incidently you have to have the colman brand adapter hose or it won't work. I'm not the only one who tried using a different brand then Coleman and ended up not working. I got one Walmart sold and recommended for the Mr Heater vent free heater. I'm guessing there's a clearance difference in the two.

Thanks. I only tried the Coleman one, so I didn’t know the other ones wouldn’t work.
