Hi Jean For 3phase with Neutral and Earth. Do you normally put earth in a connector and replace L1 @ A1 with neutral wire. Cheers

Hello Jean B...your set up clearly works but I have a couple of questions about it that I hope you can help me understand. I'm having difficulty understanding why the contactor coil is not already energized before pressing the start button. It appears the contactor coil is already receiving power from the L1 bridge and completed by connecting A2 at the bottom with the motor overload protection switch. I know I'm missing something here so please help me understand. Thank you.

Hi Tony. Because you're first passing the L3 wire through the Normally Open (NO) switch of the contactor aswell as the NO contact of the switch,no power will pass through to A2 until you hit the start button. If you are testing coil A1 with a voltmeter and get 230V when tested to ground(in my case single phase) and you test A2 to ground you should also get 230V but that voltage is accualy the voltage from A1 you are picking up as it is just passing through the coil. If you test between A1 and A2 with your multimeter you should get 0V until you press the START switch. Then you should get 400V at A1 and A2 (in my case 3 phase)

I just replayed your video...I think the part I was missing is the fact this you installed a 400 VAC contactor and when you press the start button, this provides the 400 VAC needed to energize the contactor coil. The 230 VAC received from L1 is not enough to energize the coil. Is this correct?

Do you connect neutral to any terminal of the contactor?
@p0we1114 жыл бұрын
A1 or A2 it does not matter, but A2 for tge neutral is just common practice. If there are two A2 contacts, any one of the two will be fine.

How do I wire this on 240 v . Really struggling with it
@p0we1114 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. If you are using 230v contactor follow these instructions: At the beginning of the video (1:27) instead of a bridge from L1 (red wire) to A1, use the NEUTRAL wire that you have. Then, treat the blue wire in the video as your LIVE wire (1:43 to 5:58)

@@p0we111 hello thank you for replying . Yes it is 240 v it worked when I push the contact by hand . But won't work with the start button . It looks the same as your one but the numbers are different
@p0we1114 жыл бұрын
@@andrewnoblett9510 Make sure that on youre overload you are using the NC (normally closed) contact. If you connected it to the NO (normally open) contact it wil only work if you the contactor.

Is A2 fed by neutral ?
@p0we1114 жыл бұрын
In a single phase contactor, yes the neutral is A2 but in a 3phase contactor the A2 is phase 2.
