We have Generlink installed by LCEC, but the problem is LCEC only offers the 50 amp cord which is the four straight blades, 90% of the generators that will be connected to this will be a 30 amp L14-30 round plug, LCEC solution is for the homeowner to purchase an adaptor. The problem is the adaptors are next to impossible to plug into the 50 amp plug on the cable. I called Generlink and ordered the 20 foot cord with the L14-30 plug on it and according to Generlink they do not recommend using an adaptor.

Are these specific to floating or bonded neutral or can either neutral be used?

Not sure since we are not allowed to install them here in the Chicago area. Might want to call the manufacture on that one.

@@MightyHouse thanks, I called this morning and they are floating neutral specific.

@@MightyHouse also, call generlink directly because here in my area of Texas they aren't allowed, but they just came out with a generlink hybrid for areas that aren't allowed to hook to the meter. They sent me an email of the new hybrid.

The unit has clearly printed on the side that it is for floating neutral generators. However, I have a 10500 watt inverter generator that is bonded neutral and used it recently for an 8 hour period, and it worked just fine. However, the electrical code requires only one ground so the generator should be floating, but everything in the house worked just fine with no error codes on any devices with the bonded to neutral generator. So this may well b e a code thing.....
