Great tutorial video. Thank you for these product videos! Setting this up tomorrow and looks very straight forward.

Great guideline!

There is a new AOI(Add-On Instruction) to do this for later model Compact/ControlLogix (OpenSockets capable). Not as impressive as Anybus, but free on the knowledgebase. This is still my goto for ModbusRTU comms . . . definitely better than Prosoft Gateway for CompactLogix, with Spectrum Controls being a close 2nd. They need to make a video of a Modbus serial version. I've got a PLC lab, maybe I'll make a video next time I get one for a project. Modbus to IoT gateway is going to become a common protocol conversion I imagine for retrofit IoT applications.

Hello everything is fine? I was very interested in what you said! Did you happen to make the video you mentioned? I have a PLC 1756-L83E (ControlLogix 5580 Controller) and I am researching a method to perform this protocol conversion. I wanted to check if the method you mentioned is possible in my case. Thanks!

How many clients can you add? and what if you already have logic addressed in your logic, and you need to modify the client, does that messes up the configuration ?

Hi Gustavo, apologies for the late response. Our gateway is an EtherNet/IP adapter on the Rockwell side, and a Modbus-TCP Client on the other. The Modbus-TCP Client-side can handle up to 64 Modbus-TCP servers. Anytime you add or remove servers on the Modbus-TCP side, the configuration will need to be adapted in the Rockwell PLC engineering tool. Have a great day!

why not have a link to your site?

Thank you! Excellent video. Question: can the MODBUS TCP and EtherNet/IP devices be on the same physical network? In this case, for example, what if the Schneider drive and the Logix PLC were plugged into the same ethernet switch? Would we still need to use both ports of the linking device to connect to this switch?

Thank you!

i am currently examining the work done by some manufacturer with a weather station and they connected both ports of the linking device to the switch and it seems to have both, modbus TCP and ethernet/IP on the same node.

Hi doanster! You need to connect both the Ethernet/IP side and the Modbus TCP side to the network. They can be on the same physical network or separate networks.
