I had a leak on my CGA580 connector I couldn't get rid of despite tightening and re-installing. Used teflon tape anyway even though it's a pressure fit. It took care of it.

That's good. That's kinda weird that it fixed it. It could have been the bottle socket or the gauge connector, but hey if it fixed it, that's all that counts. Thanks for watching. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith

@@keithnoneya Help!, I have a CGA580 regulator, but it won't fit onto my Argon bottle, its about the same size, almost looks like it will fit, but slightly too large, any ideas what fitting that might be so I can try an adaptor?
@keithnoneya Жыл бұрын
@@engjds Super good question, you best advice and the place to get that question answered it to take the bottle to a Gas Supplier and they will be able to tell you what head actually fits your bottle but may have one on hand. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier I was in town for church, and hanging out with friends most of the day then came home late. Try one of the Welding and Gas Supply shops, they'll have what you need or can swap your bottle out for one that fits. Hope that helps, Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

@@keithnoneya Thanks for the response, god bless, unfortunately I bought the Argon bottle from a random guy off ebay, he seems to have no idea of the connection even though he refills them, I will do your second suggestion and take it to a welding supplier, thank you and stay strong and in Christ.
@keithnoneya Жыл бұрын
@@engjds Just a little side note, most bottles deepening on the size, usually the very large ones, are actually owned by a Gas Supplier, even those in circulation and are not for sale to an unlicensed gas or bottle dealer. A few exceptions are the small pony or bottles that about three feet tall. Those used to run about $225.00. This is one of the reasons when you take a bottle to get filled that don't fill it they just trade it out with one already filled on hand. The good part is if your bottle is in date you'll get one by law that must be in date of inspection. The bad part is if you take them a bottle out of date and it's a personal bottle they may charge your for a new one, an inspection fee, or decline to fill it. You can look up on how to check the dates on the bottles on line. Hope that helps give you a little more insight as well. Stay strong in Christ too! Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

I don't know why you're so worried about leaks on the low pressure side. Just make sure your fittings are tight. Also close your tank valve after every welding job.
@keithnoneya5 жыл бұрын
Yah the leaks I had were so bad that you could here them inside the unit. Also I forgot to close the valve on weekend, my bad, and lost a whole tank by the next weekend when I went to use it. So I figured if it was this bad I'd show how to check for them and fix them if you find some. I agree though, Always turn the tank off when done. Oh and the unit was in the house just for the videoing. It was over 90 deg's outside and about 90% humidity. After each session it went right back into the garage. Good comment. Can I ask sir...argon gas is flammable or not...coz I want to learn about tig...I know about arc welding but not tig welding
@keithnoneya4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Argon gas is colorless, odorless and non-flammable. It is non-toxic. The primary health hazard is asphyxiation by displacement of oxygen. You can learn about Industrial Gasses here: www.uigi.com/MSDS_gaseous_Ar.html Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

@@reycatindoy7202 I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video. But being that this has an oxygen displacing gas, do NOT keep it in the house. Keep in the garage. What I didn't show in the video was I put it in the garage after each time I worked on it. When you do go to get your gas you'll have to use a truck as gas suppliers won't allow you to put it in an enclosed vehicle. Last thing they want is a customer passing out from lack of oxygen and crashing on the way to the job. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Does anyone know why you aren't supposed to use teflon tape (even the yellow gas version?) for the main connector from regulator into the cylinder? Mine is leaking like a crazy no matter how much pressure I put in it (concerned to strip it out). I can actually hear it hissing.
@keithnoneya4 жыл бұрын
I don't know the exact reason you don't use Teflon tape but I believe it has something to do with the type of fitting. The fitting type is a compression, as you know and gas can leak on it it two places. One is on the threads and the second is on the pipe that goes through the threaded nut. So if the nut doesn't seal on the bottle no amount of Teflon tape is going to help as it will just leak out the pipe in the center. If the nut does seal, well then you don't need the Teflon tape anyways. So using Teflon tape is not going to help so why bother with it. Most fittings to a bottle lead because the gauge fitting is warped. The bottle fitting usually don't lead as they are tested before they are sold. I would do a good inspection on the gauge fitting. If it looks good just exchange the bottle and tell them why. If the new bottle leaks by a cheap gauge and take the fitting and pipe off it and put it on your good gauge set up. Then throw that old pipe and fitting out so it won't bother you again. Hope that points you in the right direction. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

What kind of hose you got on your welder and size of the hose
@keithnoneya6 жыл бұрын
High Randy, the hose came with the welder as most do. If you go to replace it I would just choose a 1/4" hose, that is UV resistant, then use some small automotive hose clamps on it. If you need more information I would contact your local welding supplier. Industrial Gas and Supply is a good choice. Thanks for the question. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith Noneya.

Hello, very nice video! But I have a small request: why don't you put some kind of "intro" at the beginning of each video to say more about what it is all about! All the best
@keithnoneya8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tam, I thought the title and description of the video was good enough. Not very good at this yet. I have a program called CyberLink that I've been playing with. I also have been trying to keep my videos as short as possible and cram as much information into them, hence you'll see a lot of editing, I like to ramble. I noticed my longer videos have a low view percentage as well as the ones I put a splash screen on. Thanks for the constructive suggestion. I will truly consider it for future videos.
@MrTamhan8 жыл бұрын
Hello, the splash screen indeed is problematic: my mentor (a German video pro) said that 5sec is the absolute max. Another interesting approach is taken by a french fellow who places them "inbetween" - let's take this offline if you wish so I can post you the URL!
