only have a usb mic and i just got a portable foam sound proofer for my mic (feels good quality so im excited for that) but other than that i have the basic/expected amount of knowledge from self teaching on this music stuff. because of that small upgrade i was looking to see what else I can do and literally today I'm now learning about audio interfaces and what they do. at first i had to find out my usb mic and xlr mics are different and "wouldn't work" but then after some scrolling i found this video. literally within 4 minutes i already know what I need to do and get. thanks alot brother very good video!🔥🔥

And they know nothing.. It's a simple audio connection and you will even get better sound quality than an xlr mic.. Thanks bro.

@DIYVideoStudio

@@lillytalks7084 If you're not using an audio interface, I assume you are connecting the Blue Yeti to your computer with the USB cable. If that's the case, make sure the gain knob is turned up and get about 4-8 inches from the front side of the mic. The Blue Yeti is normally quite a "hot" mic so it should pick up your voice easily even if you're whispering.

I think a decent Asio driver that will let you use both of them at the same time like maybe ASIO4ALL, that way I can just hook the Yeti up to my laptop with it's USB cord and I still have the two input on the focusrite open to use for whatever I may need. It is useful to know that you may have to go into Windows Sound setting and basically set the input level to 0 so that Windows isn't trying to add any artificial digital gain to the mic, which it definitely doesn't need. I made this mistake and struggled to figure out why it was so loud and my vocal was clipping even when I had the gain on the mic all the way down. It was because of the Windows setting inside it's sound mixer where you right click on the little speaker and open sound settings and you'll find the mic/input gain there. Just click where it says Device Properties above the Test you Microphone thing. Also Ignore what it tells you if you do the whole test your mic thing. I didn't find it to be accurate and literally turned it all the way down on that Device Properties page.

@@Founder_TV i think if you plug your xlr mic into the audio interface xlr port, and then connect the yeti x mic's 3.5mm output( meant for monitoring) to aux input on the audio interface, it should work?
@Miniontaart
@Miniontaart 11 ай бұрын
@@Founder_TV you can’t. If you plug-in a usb mic and an xlr mic via an interface they would essentially be on different audio channels and you can only select one audio input channel at a time on your computer. Two XLR mics in an interface would work.

Do you know how to connect blue yeti to DSLR so that I can monitor the sound with earphones? Cause my DSLR has only one mic input.
@DIYVideoStudio
@DIYVideoStudio Жыл бұрын
You can get small audio mixers with a cold shoe attachment that let you plug the mic and headphones into it and then take an output to your DSLR. Comica make a few microphone audio mixers, such as their CVM-AX1 dual-channel microphone adapter. Here's a link to the product on Amazon amzn.to/4491Q6a If you have a portable audio recorder, like a Zoom H4n you can do the same kind of thing. Connect the Yeti to the Zoom H4n with an AUX cable then connect the LINE OUT to your camera's audio input with another AUX cable. To monitor the recording plug headphones into the H4n.

@DIYVideoStudio

You will still need to connect the USB socket to a computer or phone. Doing so not only provides power but also ensures the audio signal goes to the headphone output.

Is it possible to use that cord to connect the yeti to a portable audio recorder like a zoom or tascam? I need a slightly more portable method other than a laptop for a project
@DIYVideoStudio
@DIYVideoStudio 2 ай бұрын
In theory you can connect the headphone output on the Yeti to the input on a portable record, but you still need to connect to the laptop to provide power and make the sound card inside the Yeti word. If you need more portability (although the Yeti isn't exactly light weight) I would suggest getting a new USB cable with mini-USB at one end and USB-C at the other end. You'll then be able to record to a phone that is OTG compatible. I have videos on my channel that show how to do this. See this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnjPpHyLl76Lps0 If you don't want to get that cable, you can use the USB cable that came with the Yeti plus a USB-A to USB-C adapter. Checkout this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpnUYZ-Vfauiqrc Good Luck.

Have you made sure to go into the blue yeti's options in the recording tab? If you go to the properties of the microphone, there should be an option in one of the tabs to control the audio that outputs from the microphone. Plug your headset into the microphone and listen to see if your microphone starts outputting through the jack.

I used a 3.5mm jack and xlr end on the solo but no sound is coming through. Is this not an option?
@DIYVideoStudio
@DIYVideoStudio 2 ай бұрын
I assume you mean a cable or adapter with a male 3.5mm jack at one end and a male XLR connector at the other. Make sure that whatever you are plugging the 3.5mm jack into has the same type of connections. For instance, if the jack has 1 black (sometimes white) ring it is a TS jack. If it has 2 rings it's a TRS jack. If it has 3 black rings it's a TRRS jack. Older smartphones and tablets had TRRS sockets and you need to use a TRRS jack in those. Standard audio gear (normal headphones, cameras, audio recorders) use TRS sockets and you'll need a TRS jack. The TS jack is mono and tends to be used on things like electric guitars and pickups. Provided the connections are compatible, you should be able to connect an external source. If you're trying to connect a 3.5mm lav mic you might have problems, since it may need plugin power, which is not the same as phantom power.

@ghgfh882
@ghgfh882 Жыл бұрын
( when i use the yeti without audio interface there is no saturation)
@DIYVideoStudio
@DIYVideoStudio Жыл бұрын
Hi. As I understand it, saturation in audio is a mix of compression and distortion. In this situation I don't see how there would be any compression but there would be distortion if the input signal overloads the audio interface. If your audio is distorting it would suggest the Yeti headphone output is overloading the input of the audio interface. On an audio interface you may have a choice between a mic input and an instrument/line-in input. Microphones, especially dynamic mics, have low outputs, so the mic input on an interface expects a lower input than an instrument/line-in input. Therefore, I think the solution here would be to change the interface from the mic input to instrument input. Your audio interface should therefore adjust for the higher signal level from the Yeti's headphone output and, hopefully, you won't hear any distortion. Good luck.

If you have set the computer and Yeti levels at 50%, as I mention, and your sound levels are really low, turn one or both up. Remember you can also turn up the headphone volume knob on the Yeti to give yourself more gain.

I cover connecting a Blue Yeti to Android phones and iPhones in other videos. In the case of an Android phone (at least most recent phones), the easiest way is to get a new USB cable (mini-USB to USB-C) and connect the Yeti directly to the phone's USB-C port. You can also use the USB cable that came with the Yeti but you'll need an adapter. NB: Some, but not all, people who have had the firmware updated on their Yetis have encountered problems connecting their Yetis to Android phones. I hope that helps.

I was just wondering WHY would anyone put Blue Yeti on that since it is already supposed to do what Focusrite does to XLR mics. What is the purpose?
@DIYVideoStudio
@DIYVideoStudio 2 ай бұрын
There could be a number of reasons why my viewers asked to be shown how to do this. For instance, they may already have a Yeti and have upgraded to an audio interface and 1 XLR microphone but have a situation where 2 mics would be useful.

@DIYVideoStudio Жыл бұрын
@@mahmoudnazir3523 You can use the Yeti with the Focusrite Solo without any problems if you are using the Cardioid or Omni patterns on the mic. Just use the 1/4" (6.35mm) to 1/8" (3.5mm) Aux cable/ You can even connect when using the figure of 8 or stereo modes on the Yeti but you'll lose the "stereo" effect. If you're recording a single voice or single instrument you will most likely be recording in mono anyway. But if you need to record in stereo, perhaps because you are recording a small choir or musical group, and you don't need to change the mix later, then get the 2i2.
