In this video, we focus on connecting our Power App to the Excel spreadsheet we created and configured in the previous classes. We begin by closing the spreadsheet to ensure smooth functioning within Power Apps.
Next, we navigate back to Power Apps and click on "Apps" to create a new app. We choose the "Canvas" option, specifically the phone format, as our app will primarily be used on smartphones. I name my app "Power Contacts," but feel free to choose your own name.
To connect to the data source, we access the "Data" pane and search for the "OneDrive" connector. If you stored your Excel file in OneDrive, select "OneDrive" or "OneDrive for Business" based on your account type. If you stored the file in SharePoint, search for the "SharePoint" connector.
If you don't have an existing connection, you can create a new one by clicking on "Add a connection." Once connected, navigate to the Excel file by browsing through the folders. Select the Excel file and choose the table named "TB Contacts" that we created earlier.
After connecting, we add a data table to visualize the data from the spreadsheet. We configure the table to display the desired fields (name, phone, department, email, and comments) and see the data populating the table within the canvas app. We can play the app and observe how it reflects any changes made to the spreadsheet.
To ensure the app is saved, we click on "Save" and then proceed to publish the app by clicking on "Publish." Now, our app is ready to be shared and used. We can access it on make.powerapps.com and play the app, seeing the data table displaying the information from the Excel file.
Stay tuned for the next class, where we start building elements in the screens of our app. If you're new to Power Apps or looking to enhance your app-building skills, this course is perfect for you!

@powerrudy, thanks for the video, this helped me. One ask is that if I modify the excel everytime should I refresh the connector to the data to reflect on the app? Any way we can make it automatically refresh and show it in the app?

Como consigo conectar um Excel que está no share point ao invés do one drive? Tentei o mesmo processo e não funciona de jeito nenhum.

Amazing thing is that in a corporate environment I put the Data table onto canvas and while the headers are there it doesn't show any data. However, if I take a file from some Microsoft example and connect to that one, the very same control displays data. I tried changing the xls data sensitivity to "Public", still no data in Data table. There is some annoying stupid feature that prevents Data table from reading Excel docs from One Drive for Business and makes using this impossible, but I can't find out what it is.

Have you figured out why? Excel has these annoying things.. Particularly I'd not recommend do anything serious using it.. just for proof of concepts and learning. Go with SharePoint if you want to stay in the standard connectors.

Hi, I did a test but what do I do if I want to modify the excel file imported directly from the app? Thank you

Not possible, you will need to connect to the excel that is somewhere else, like SharePoint or OneDrive.

unable to upload the excel file, is there any formating rule that I'm missing? Thanks for the video

You have to format the data in Excel as table (Home, Format as table). Also if you select columns then PowerApps will complain you have too many rows (as table will have 100.000+ empty rows). It's overall very immature and annoying product.

Sad to hear that! Unfortunately I do not have any recommendation besides trying to setup a new file again and keep the file closed while connecting.. good luck!
