Can I use any HDMi cable for ARC?

Yes. Any HDMI will do the work. If you have trouble, try one that is above 2.0, but seriously, any HDMI should do the job.

Have Sonos play base and LG Oled TV and LG magic remote! Using optical and have sound through Sonos but can not adjust volume on TV using remote? Have the volume icon on TV screen but when pressing plus or minus nothing happens to volume? Would using optical to HDMI adaptor and using ARC solve the problem ?
@HowToPM11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately your remote seam to be incompatible with the Base. The thing is that your sound bar need to receive the IR signal from the remote but your probably comunicating over bluetooth. On neewer model, HDMI can send that info, but since you receive it in a optical input, that won't work. I think the cheepest and best solution for you would be tu use a regular IR remote for your LG TV. Something like that should do the job : geni.us/yCseWBA

Thank you for explaining why The Best Buy geek who will be installing my ordered two very expensive HDMI cables. ($296.76) Now that you have explained that a HDMI to fiber optic converter comes with the Sonos ARC sound bar and I already have several unused fiber optic cables I don't think I will need to buy the expensive HDMI cables. I suspect the second cable was to hook up to Router but the router is on a different floor than my TV is located. I will be using my LAN to wirelessly make connection to the Internet. Thanks again for saving me almost $300!
@HowToPM3 жыл бұрын
Ahah. Hi David. About HDMI cable, you never need to pay big $ for this kind of cable. The reason is that it's digital. So you will never see any difference between a 5$ cable, and a 500$ cable. Unless there is big interference around the cable like big electricity cable. Otherwise the image with any cable will be exactly the same. The image reach the other side of the cable, or not. But if it does reach the other side, image will be identical.

I installed the Sonos Beam to my Samsung TV and installed the Sonos App and everything worked great. However, on the second day, the Samsung TV reverted to using its own internal speakers. I disconnected the Sonos Beam, then reconnected it and the TV was again using the Sonos sound bar. Is there an audio setting in the Samsung that will tell it to permanently forget its internal speakers and use the Sonos? If so, can you point me to a KZbin video or somewhere it's explained?
@HowToPM3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob. If you use the Arc, it should automatically detect it thrue the HDMI cable. So there is no setting you can do in the menu. However if you use the optical output, you can just lower the volume of the TV. The optical output is enable all the time.
@bobcowen3 жыл бұрын
@@HowToPM Unfortunately I've tried everything I can think of. Powered off, unplugged and reconnected but the setting of using "reverse" does not "stick." I must power off the Sonos and turn it on again for the Samsung TV to recognize it. When it does, the Sonos becomes the default speaker without my doing anything. However, the next time I turn on the TV, it does not even have the option of "reverse" in the settings menu on the TV. Using the optical output I'm told that control of the volume is only available via the Sonos app. This is not acceptable either. The Samsung TV has an HDMI-ARC connector, not an eARC connector. I've posted this same question in the Sonos users forum but would greatly appreciate any/all suggestions.
@HowToPM3 жыл бұрын
Hi bob. Your beam have and IR receiver and can learn the IR code of your remote. So there is no problem with the volume control. See that video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/faimdGZspt58rsk About the Arc, maybe your HDMI cable is defective. Or maybe just try to inverse it.
@bobcowen3 жыл бұрын
@@HowToPM Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately the problem is not in the remote control. When connecting via the optical output, the Samsung menu tells me that the volume can only be controlled by the app. I want to control the volume by the remote control. The video you linked to is from 2018 and the app no longer has the options for any type of room control. Finally, the HDMI-ARC connection (which is the way it should work) does not remember the settings after the TV has been turned off for an hour or more. The only way to "reawaken" the Sonos & Samsung connection is to unplug the Sonos, reconnect it and wait about 30 seconds. At that point, the Sonos automatically becomes the default speakers. Prior to that point, the Samsung menu doesn't even give me the option of selecting "reverse" on the speaker settings menu. The HDMI cable was the one that came with the Sonos but I reversed it and didn't make any difference. I have another Samsung TV that also has an ARC connection (not an eARC) and I'll see if the Sonos bar behaves the same way.

I already tried with an HDMI and it was not working. So you would need a optical adapter. But that is just not a great plan. Sonos is not made to be a computer speaker.

@HowToPM2 жыл бұрын
I don't know the name of that fonction on LG as it change from a brand to an other, but you will want to disable the ''HDMI Auto-Sync'' it is 100% sure you have a feature for that in your menu somewhere. It is always on by default, but sometime, you better set it off.

I have invested over 3k on sonos amps and sonance in ceiling speakers just because of their app but the sound is substandard . if you are an audio file get a separate amp and a processor oh and a real subwoofer which is what I have in my main home theater. Sonos, Bose and all those companies are good for simplicity.
@HowToPM Жыл бұрын
There must be something wrong in your installation. The Sonos AMP is a really good amp. I drive my Paradigm Premiere 800F with it and the sound is simply amazing. Make sure you don't have reverse the ''red/black'' connection on one of your speaker. Note that I never tested the Sonance speaker. But for sure the AMP is a great amp.
