How to install Sonos PlayBar

Thank you for your informative video. I use Sonos S1 for my home. Currently my home theater surround sound speakers are being powered through a receiver. Those speakers are plugged into the receiver. When I watch a show in that theater, I can only hear what’s being played in the theater and not in other rooms of the house. However, I also have other speakers around my home connected with the Sonos “connect:amp” and if I use the Sonos S1 app to play music, I can have all of the speakers playing music around my home as well as the ones in the Home theater. If I get the Sonos playbar and connect via optical cable to my TV in the theater, will that allow me to hear what is being played on the TV in all of the rooms I select?

Do you have any videos on how it sounds? Once connected must u use the app to watch tv thru it or does it always automatically transfer the sound to the playbar from the tv?

By default, it will automatically switch to the TV sound when something is playing. You can use the PlayBar without the app once it is configure.

I have been trying to set up my PlayBar on S1 to join my Connect:Amp, but despite going through the process, it now says that PlayBar is only compatible with S2. Is there a trick to getting the PlayBar working on S1 now?

I have heard there is a way to downgrade the device but I never tried it. Why don't you want to use S2?

Depend how new they are and what you are trying to do. Playbar is upgradable to S2 so you can use it as multiroom speaker with any other speaker under S2, but I don't think you can set ERA as surround on PlayBar. At least not the ERA300. But maybe I'm wrong I never tried it. It's just a guess.

The sonos one SL should make airplay available in the house. You have to start the airplay from your apple device.

You need to send the airplay to the One SL and from the sonos APP send it or pair it with the Play Bar. Yes it will work.

Hello Mr Sonos :) t'as vu le support DTS sur la playbar maintenant? Dit ça passe pas chez moi, le NOUVEAU TV ne décode pas le DTS .... je galère. Chez LG ils disent de mettre en passtrough sauf que j'ai pas pas, c'est grisé en PCM je voulais passer en bitstream la loose. T'in même un pauvre TV Xiaomi (mon ex 4s 55) lisait le DTS . Si t'as une idée :) mERki ^^

Ahah Salut. C'est toujours une histoire de compatibilité entre appareil. Désolé il n'y a pas de réponse facile à ça. Mais si c'était moi, je me casserais pas la tête et je laisserait ça en PCM, c'est très bien! 😉

@@HowToPM hey :) j'ai laissé en pcm :) mais ça décode pas le dts.... Tfacon tout est grisé sur les options de la tv donc pas le choix. La barre décode mais pas la tv, comme c'est elle qui lit bin... Flûte. :)
