I sometimes get questions about the electronics in my models, and I have promised to make a video of how i connect the components. Well, it is finally here! I hope you enjoy it!
**One thing I forgot mentioning in the video is that I mix the two channels for the tracks in the radio so that I can controll the model with just one stick.**

Have you ever thought of selling 3D prints? Or taking commissions? Side note: how much does it usually cost in total to make one of these?
@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, selling printed sets would be nice. It takes so much time printing them, though. 😊 But maybe in the future! Tricky question, but I would say somewhere around 500 $, give or take. The most expensive parts are probably the ESC's and the sound module.

A question that i wanted to ask, what`s the difference between a normal battery and a lipo battery? I dont have any experience with lipo batterys and wondered why so many people use them.
@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander 2 жыл бұрын
They are very light weight, considering the amount of power you get, plus they can be discharged very fast (that's the C-value on a LiPo), so they are typically used in airplanes and drones. Weight is not a huge deal when it comes to tanks, but since I use 3D-printed tracks, I try to keep the models as light as possible. The downside with LiPo is that if they are punctured or malfunctions, the Lithium burns when in contact with oxygen. They also have to be monitored and stored at mid charge-level, otherwise they might swell. Always keep your LiPo's in a safe protective bag and practice safe charging. 😁

@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander Ай бұрын
@@glendavis8625 That's aweseome to hear, congrats! I can't recommend a certain esc for over 12 V, but I would suggest you have a look at Amazon, eBay, or any of the other world wide shopping sites, there are plenty of cheap esc:s that can take higher voltage there.

Would you ever consider building something such as a tank destroyer? Or an IS series tank? (Tanks like the IS-3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and even 8) With more simplistic hull designs compared to their IS and IS-2 counterparts.
@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander Жыл бұрын
I think tank destroyers are really interesting, but I tend to focus on vehicles with turrets, or quirky artillery tractors. The cold war era tanks are very appealing though, so I would never rule anything out. 🙂

@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander Жыл бұрын
That's going to be a great model. 👍 I think the Scimitar would be good to look at, they are a bit similar. I guess my advice is to try and think ahead as much as possible, make sure everything is tight and nice, no loose or wiggly parts. Oh, and I have started to print the tracks with the pattern-side up and the guide teeth as a separate piece that is glued on later. That makes for even stronger track links. Best of luck! Would love to see your build!

@builtbyWikander
@builtbyWikander 8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thabk you for watching and great to hear that you are building together! I usually put my drills/screw drivers at the drill-mode. That way, I can use the full torque of the machine. It's not a bad idea, however, to have it set to slip if you get stuck, but it depends a bit on the model's characteristics and how it performs. Best of luck with your project!

Tackar!

I know nothing about modelism but would it be possible to use an arduino's wifi or bluetooth as a receiver, salvage the variator in the drill and then use a servo-motor to push on the drill variator to control the electric engine? That would be the ultimate broke ass model.
