I appreciate no obnoxious music and your efforts to repeat the important information. Nice ! I have the 60amp mppt controller. Can I unite in series two panels that aren't exactly alike? I have one panel that's 110 watt @ 19volt. I'm considering purchasing from Amazon the ZOUPW 100watt @ 20 volt panel. Do you highly advise a circuit breaker switch for me? Which is the best please?? I disconnect my mc4 panel every night. All this is for my little travel trailer RV camper. Thank you

Cool! Maybe you can help me. I have dual batteries in my rv, I hooked up a battery monitor which required a shunt between the two. I bought a 100w panel and a renogy solar controller. Do I just hook up my controller positive to positive BEFORE the shunt and negative AFTER the shunt like my battery monitor is wired?

I'm just a beginner. How will I connect six solar panels of 130 Watts, 19.1Mpv, and 23.4 Voc with a 100/50A Mppt and a six lead acid batteries.Then I have a 12V/ 1500Watts inverter. Your assistance is much appreciated.
@georgescott696710 ай бұрын
I would wire 3 of your panels in series, and the other 3 in series to create 2 strings of 3 panels. Then wire the 2 strings in parallel. This combination would have 70.2Voc, 57.3Vmp, 13.6Imp which should be quite comfortable for your 100V/50A MPPT charge controller.

Hi in step 2 u use a 63 amp braker could you explain why? if in the 2 panels are are producing 16 amp? I'm new to all this but love your videos
@cleversolarpower11 ай бұрын
You can use whatever breaker size you want. 16A-63A, because the main reason for this breaker is to disconnect the solar panels. The wires don't need to be protected because the solar panels cannot generate more power than the wire can handle.
@moziani9093 Жыл бұрын
Again clear explanation. I'm gonna replace my 24v system 230ah lead acid with lifep04. I can choose option 1 ( 2x12 100ah) or option 2(1 x 24v 100ah) Are there pro’s and cons? There is a small price difference and option one has the benefit of risk reduction; when one battery fails you have one left. Are there more pro’s and cons?
@cleversolarpower Жыл бұрын
With one 24V battery you need less wires. The risk reduction doesn't help you because you will be left with a 12V battery on a 24V system. If you want risk reduction, then you can use 24V 50Ah.

Hello sir and thank you for this video but I need your help. I have on my boat two 400 watt panels with (38v VOC) and (15A ISC) each connected in series and I'm going to connect them to a victron 150/70 TR charge controller with a victron 3000 watt inverter. My batteries are two 12 volt 250Ah Lead acid in parallel. The distance from the panels to the charge controller is 15m and the distance from the charge controller to the battery is 5m . Can you please help me on which cables to use from the panels to the charge controller and the charge controller to the battery and also what fuses I will need. your help will be much appreciated. thank you

How can I add 2 solar panel of 150watt to 300watts and the controller is 60watts to a 12v battery of 220ahms
@danadriscoll64378 ай бұрын
It sounds like you are saying that a 1000W/12V inverter draws 83A from the battery. What you mean is that the inverter can handle a max load of 83A, correct?
@cleversolarpower8 ай бұрын
No, the input is 83A times 1.25 safety factor. The output current will be lower because the voltage is higher.

Dear friend. I have an interesting problem ? I have watched many boat lithium battery upgrades online (YT) all seems to go quite well 🤷🏽♂️ . I had two lead acid batteries in my 5 battery bank began to gas quite badly. I decided to not only replace the batteries but also to take the opportunity to upgrade all to Lithium. There was little time to plan as we were in the process of moving marinas. After having the new batteries 🔋 installed (Victron superpac 100ah 12v) we also upgraded our shunt to a victron smart shunt, also a Cerbo GX with touchscreen to monitor our system. We also have installed an Orion GX DC to DC controller. We have both solar panels and a wind generator topping up the batteries. Our battries are connected to a EDECOA 3500w inverter for our AC power loads. Our system is set to 14.2 V for a 100% State Of Charge. My Question: When we have 100% State Of Charge (SOC) as we use a load say a kettle as the SOC goes down the voltage also seem to decrease e.g if the SOC goes down to 97% the voltage drops to 13.8 volts. If we disconnect the solar and wind (and shore power) this would mean :- Battery 🔋.. volts ..🔌 100 %. 14.2 90 %. 12.78 80 %. 11.36 70 %. 9.94 60 %. 8.52 50 %. 7.1 My understanding is you could set a lithium battery to 10% or 20% floor, but at this rate the batteries will not run any loads after 70%-80% what have i done wrong or do I need a victron inverter to fix the problem.
@cleversolarpower2 ай бұрын
It's normal when you have a load that the voltage drops a little bit. a 12V 100Ah battery is still small. The recommended discharge current is 50A, so at 12V, that is: 12V*50A=600W max draw. That is literally nothing compared to your 3500W inverter. Victron batteries are way overprices for what they are. I recommend using litime or redodo like in my videos. Much cheaper and very good. Send me an email with your reply because i cannot see replies to this answer.
@theeskipper12 ай бұрын
@ thanks so much for your reply. It’s starting to make sense to me now. I have 5 batteries 12v 100ah, one is a starter battery for my engine which is lead acid. The remaining 4 are the house bank for the boat. I am trying to move away from using the gas so we use an induction cooker, air fryer and a kettle. We have a solar panel system and a 1200w wind generator. All working together so far so good, just a few more bits of fine tuning to get it quite right.
@melmeja9 ай бұрын
Add a 25% safety margin! If a 200W solar panel has a Voc of 22V and the system voltage is 12V, the maximum charge current is 16.67A. Adding a 25% safety margin, the minimum required charge controller rating is 20.83A, so a 20A or 30A charge controller would work.

i need some assistance. im a absolute beginner. so i wanted to try something easy. i have invested in a oupes mega 1. its anderson inout states :12~80vd.c MPPT:18V~75V 14A 800w and plan to use suitcase 200w suitcase to charge it. its specs state 200w VMP 20v IMP 10A VOC 23.6V ISC 11A So i was saying 2 of these panels should be fine in series based on your formula. 23.6 x 2 x 1.25 = 60V which is 600watts. the wires arent close enough so i will be using a 20ft mc4 extension cable at 14AWG. if i use 3 its 88V. which would be too much. but is there any way i can get closer to the 800w charge input on the oupes? i also was thinking about the future as well.. Would it be sensible to add more panels and then add in a inverter (or any other recommended equipment) to then use that ac to super charge it as it supports 85-145V/ac 12A 1400w thanks in advance for your time and feedback. i really appreciate it.
@cleversolarpower3 ай бұрын
There is a way to get closer to the 800W when you pick solar panels with slightly different specifications. You can add another inverter, but you should not combine the outputs together because that wil blow them up.

I don't quite understand the 30A fuse calculation: if the controller max current is 25A, how can a 30A fuse protect against overloading, 30A is well *over* the max allowable current?
@cleversolarpower6 ай бұрын
A fuse doesn't protect against overloading, it protects the wire from catching fire. That's the main purpose of fuses and breakers. So we have to select a fuse that is lower than the max current the wire can carry.
@klmkt4339Ай бұрын
So solar controller selection is guided by current flow in the circuit. Ok . I will memorize😊
