How to Connect Your Xbox or Chromecast to a University WiFi Network (MAC OR PC)

Been a while since I made a video so excuse my "umm" and "uh". Made this how-to because when I got to Uni here in New Zealand I couldn't connect to the WiFi, so I figured out how to do it for free using my laptop.
One video I could not find though is how to get your Mac to broadcast WiFi to WiFi so your Xbox could connect. Well, here it is!
Unfortunately, Macs do not support WiFi to WiFi sharing so Windows must be used, but it's pretty easy to do with Boot Camp. If you have a Mac and want to learn how to put Boot Camp onto it, just Google it - there are tons of articles and videos out there.
This is perfect for businesses, hotels, university dorms and other places that you can't access WiFi using an Xbox but you CAN by using a laptop.
When I went on Reddit and forums all the recommendations were to just change the MAC address of my Xbox, but this doesn't work for a lot of networks that use, especially WPA Enterprise networks.

Sir... I would like to say that you are my hero right now. I literally have spent the last 2-3 hours figuring out how to connect my xbox, with tons of videos and websites having me do a bunch of extra shit that didn't make sense. This works great, for whatever reason my ps4 or my tv doesn't want to connect to my router , yet my laptop has no problem connecting. Using this method I was able to bypass all the bull💩. Easy and to the point, thanks.

I have an M1 chip MacBook Pro so boot camp doesn't work, I tried Parallels but you can't use the mobile hotspot since it's not available on Parallels vm. Is there any other way?

Using the app Connectify it's possible to do a wired connection from your laptop to Xbox but keep in mind it's a paid app.

yes! there is a way that involves changing your MAC address so you won't need it everytime. but for me and most the people that watched this video they probably tried that and didn't work!

To switch between OSX and Windows you just fully shutdown the computer, then turn it on again and hold down ⌥option until you see the selection 😁👍

I need ur help mate. I cant connect my xbox to the dormitory ethernet. I need ethernet cuz its fast and needed for gaming. Do u know hot to connect to it if u can alternate the advanced settings on it? Using hotspot on laptop is slower than connecting xbox directly to ethernet but it wont work

hey g. you don't need ethernet for gaming even with the wifi hotspot it's still pretty fast. you could always plug ethernet into your computer and then route the connection through Connectify. 🔌

No need to connect them together with USB so long as you do a wireless hotspot from your laptop :-)

If you have a phone that doesn't need/use wifi, yet is able to connect to an open wifi, you can connect that phone to the wifi. If you're on iphone look for mac adress in your settings: genetal: about. If your on android, it's a bit more complicated. You want to look up "wifi mac address" in the settings' search bar. Then go to settings on your xbox. Select network, advanced settings, and then at the bottom left as the last option, you'll see "Alternate MAC address." Click that and put in the mac address from your phone. Then turn off the wifi on your phone. The mac address can belong to only one device at a time. So if your phone is using wifi, your xbox wont be. Make sure to sign into the wifi ON YOUR PHONE before beginning this process or this wont work. Afterward restart the xbox, and Voila!
