Yeah absolutely! Just make sure KZbin music and your multi12 are routed through the same interface and you’ll be good to go! Feel free to share a bit more about your audio setup if you’d like some more help.

Hey, love the vids, thank you! Can you speak to how you compensate for the standard 4x4 grid in Ableton with the 3x3 pads on the DTX?

You're very welcome! Yeah, well the DTX is actually a 4x3 grid which makes it a bit easier. I used to just leave the rightmost pads empty in an Ableton drum rack. You can see this in action in my video "how to arrange Ableton drum racks". But the DTX has ports in the back that let you add extra drums. I've recently added two rubber Roland pads to the sides of my DTX, and I'm planning on adding two more soon so that I can have the full 16 for the sake of symmetry lol. You can see my extra pads in action in one of my recent KZbin shorts where I'm playing some jungle breaks. I even point out what each pad is doing in that video. Hope that helps! 🤓💥

Sure thing, are you using the DTX to control Ableton like I am in this video? If so, after you've plugged in your pedals to the back of the DTX and connected your DTX to your computer with a midi cable, are you getting any midi signal in Ableton? (The small yellow square signal on the top right)

Does this machine have a powered midi out port? I need to use it with a Widi Master device?

I primarily use the USB midi port on the side of the unit, but there are also 5-pin midi in and midi out ports available on the back of the unit.

Hey man! Thanks for the video. Somehow ableton receives no sound from the DTX. Everything is set up, even ableton recognizes the midi when I play the drumpad, but without any sound. I can even record and the midi will show up, but I can’t hear anything.. I did everything correct in tve midi preferences etc. I would be so happy about any tip, thanks!

When you're recording midi do you have a drum rack on the midi track you're recording on? This tutorial breaks down how to control Ableton with the midi from the DTX but that is different than recording the internal sounds from inside the DTX. To do that you'll need to connect a couple 1/4" cables from the back of your DTX into an audio interface and record one of the built in kits with those inputs. I hope that helps!

@@maxholtey8032 yep once the DTX is connected to your interface's inputs arm an audio track (not a midi track), make sure the audio track is receiving audio from the appropriate inputs, and make sure you have a DTX kit with internal sounds selected. Then you should get sounds when you hit record and play the drums. In fact you should also hear sounds if you switch the monitoring on that audio track to "IN" (which will make it turn blue) instead off "off" or "auto". Glad I could help :)

The idea of midi is to load the sounds from your computer from the software (daw). When you use it as a midi controller you use just as the pad to hit and the computer will make the sounds that you assign it to. if you want the sounds from the Yamaha to be heard and recorded in to the computer you have to connect the audio out into something like an audiointerface.

Hello, I just received my M12, I have windows laptop, can I just use hdmi cable? Also my paperwork says cube base I believe. Is this another download? Can you please point me in right direction. Not greatest with computers. Thanks for your time

Ok first things first, do you want to use the built-in sounds that come with the M12? (You can actually use this device without a computer at all.) Or do you want to use the M12 to control things on a computer? When making music on a computer you’ll need a DAW (digital audio workstation). This video explains how connect the M12 to DAW called Ableton. Cubase is another brand of DAW. Your M12 might’ve come with some kind of deal to use a version of Cubase, but you will need to download some kind of DAW if you want to do computer things.

@@hawtcocomusic wow thanks for the extensive reply. I just want to use what's already in the pad. Plug it in and use it with my headphones. I have the KP90 kick for it. I tried the other night real quick and heard nothing. My pad came with a cube box download and I have no need for downloads. Just want to plug and play lol. Do I have to install settings for the kick? Thank you so much

@hawtcocomusic hey thanks for replying yes got it going with just headphones. I cycled through all the kits and tonite I could not cycle. It's like it's stuck on Pu001 precussion. I'm trying everything but just stays on that setting with same sounds. Kinda get bored stuck with 12 sounds lol. Any help be appreciated. Thanks
