Refreshing to hear a old school guy with experience talk hunting! Lots of young bucks without experience regurgitating the same stuff they heard some other guy saying on podcasts nowadays.

Hearing him say I buy the cheapest tree stands after season made me smile. So relatable. That's me and those basic muddy, or rivers edge ladder stands. Menards will have them clearance for $39 and I just buy them 3 at a time to stack in my garage. They'll stay out for 2-3 seasons in different spots and when they become questionable just replace it.

Great episode! Jesse seems like a great guy and now a big fan. We have so much in common from living in the same state, hunt the same states, same strategies, same age, daughters that hunt and our wives seem a lot alike. Best of luck to you and your family Jesse.

Couldnt agree more, NY is a beautiful state cursed by being associated with NYC. Literally 2 different worlds. Would love to know what part of NY he's from and definitely want to hear more about his tactics. I grew up watching midwest hunting shows only to waste years trying to use those tactics. Now i do the opposite with success every year

Thank you to both of you guys. It sounds strange but that was a different kind of conversation that really brought up a lot of great points, some advanced, and some really fundamental. Always nice to circle back around some of the things we forget about, and maybe not give them the effort or attention they deserve. Great show fellas.

Being in the stand an hour early must've been a thing in the 90's. I'm the same age as him and did the same thing, we must have read it somewhere in bowhunter magazine. But, I would feel very late to stand if it wasn't an hour before shooting light. He's definitely right you hear all kinds of deer movement and sounds sitting in the dark!!

did anyone just hear Jesse says he likes to go in to season with 7 target bucks? that's a guy who used to do some incredible amount of scouting to have that many options. just wow.

I did not kill any bucks in question for whatever reasons within the truth im about to tell. Never called or if i did over last 25 years it woulda been a grint or 10 per season. Last year in sw va from late october to december i raised hell with a grunt 10 outta 13 hunts. Idk why its just what took place lol i blame interwebs and the allure of calling a big buck in. Every single raising hell hunt " i mean tending grunts, roaring, wearing the reed out kinda bellowing" i had bucks grunting back within 100yds. Almost entirely just outta sight range they stayed 50yds give or take 10 its high stem, briar thickets. Thought it extremely interesting anyway and no exaggeration is in this im telling ya just how it went and when i say raised hell i truly mean i let her rip hard and heavy 20 second belows almost on the minute kinda heavy excitement. Im serious, everytime it had grunts returning my way but they are smart probly saw me was grounded all hunts. Ultimately idk what this means but it was very interesting.

Like Peter Fiduccia always says "you wanna sound beatable" you probably intimidated those other bucks lol

@rbeezy9728 maybe so,logical conclusion that I hadn't really explored. I guess I never thought past the part of it being h9gh statistics of getting action doing it. I'd never heard of anyone or never previously had any luck. From small town, small county as far as knowing 99% at the local iga so deer hunters apply and don't know of anyone ever talking call luck or rattling luck. Big woods mtn side I tell no tales I was being wild with it and had em close responding " if I'd slowed a bit and really watched me setups I believe they'd run me down" slowed a Lil would still be in the unheard of over the top like Zach on that hill raising hell well under what I'm talking about so that's why imo it's my duty to relay this and that's all I can do. Good luck fellas and guys God strike me dead turn thp sequences up 7 is what I'm talking bout but the strictly grunting part well past that like 10 second roar, tending grunts 5 minute sequences kinda shit and had deer coming in grunting back and again not a chance a one of you wouldn't bet ye house that wouldn't ever get action if ye heard it. Neither would I lol but like many things I get Rollin down hill full steam ahead it just happens. Peace

Does Jesse hunt public or private? If he’s hunting unpressured private land and glassing bucks from his porch all summer I’m not that impressed. 50% of these hunting gurus are just lucky with the land they have access to. Guys like Josh have a better resume hunting public than many of these private ag country guys
