This quick video provides some tips for how to console other people who are experiencing tremendous pain, loss or grief. Sorry I don't have my friend available to animate for me anymore! I tried to learn a little Apple Motion to make the visuals a little entertaining.

I would love for your feedback about whether the text animation worked to keep you engaged or not. I'm slow in uploading more stuff because of how much time the visuals take.

I often listen to videos without watching in too much detail, and I'll just say: I just found your channel today and I'm finding what you're saying so compelling and helpful that I'm quickly working through all your videos and will soon run out :) The animations are great, but for me they are not necessary. I would absolutely welcome less highly-produced videos if it meant you could make more of them! I never leave comments, and I'm only doing so because of how helpful these have been for me. Thank you for making them!

Text animations are worth the effort you put. But I would suggest you to skip animations if they help you put out more content. Because the information that you have to share is more valuable! And I do want to know and understand another human being and myself as well to deeply connect with people around me!

I agree! You have a calming voice that’s very easy to listen to without the need of animations. You could post some without animations and the odd special one with if that helps as the animations are great! I really look forward to more content.

Thank you for these videos. They capture so much in such a concise way. This video brought to mind this : "Let us not underestimate how hard it is to be compassionate. Compassion is hard because it requires the inner disposition to go with others to place where they are weak, vulnerable, lonely, and broken. But this is not our spontaneous response to suffering. What we desire most is to do away with suffering by fleeing from it or finding a quick cure for it." Henri JM Nouwen (2011)

Dr. Ham: I'm sad that I'm just finding you now and that you're not posting often. Your content is so helpful. I selfishly hope you come back to KZbin at some point. Consistency is important in the algorithm. Maybe consider doing shorts? Your point of view and depth is so refreshingly authentic. Much aloha from California.

Jacob, I am so happy I stumbled upon your videos. I constantly search for information that I can use and try in everyday life and I get this easily and straight away from what you produce, animations and communication styles included. The best part I have to say is the ‘vibe’ you give out. It’s clear you know your stuff but the way you communicate it definitely comes from a place of caring and kindness. Like I said, so happy!

I just want you to know I am in grad school pursuing my MSW. I have a lot of trauma myself from neglect and family members going to jail, and I want you to know how much your videos are helping me. They are helping me recognizing some of my own patterns (even after years of therapy and yoga and meditation) and they are helping me conceptualize the experiences other people have. Thank you

Jacob, THANK YOU for giving words to this, and thereby giving me now the words to express to others what’s going on. This is so validating for me. What a gift you’ve given me. For decades I’ve been voiceless around this, never knowing or able to find the words or know how to express the things you conveyed. I’ve had an extremely difficult life since childhood through now, with profound pain and grief, and isolated the entire time due to how people have always interacted with me, which is hurtful, which makes me feel uncared for, unloved, alone, unseen, unheard, invalidated, dismissed, isolated amongst other awful things. The visual to the video helped too, to answer your question. I’ve saved this video so I can write down your words and become familiar and comfortable with expressing the things you say here. For once I feel some hope around having some power, a voice, around this extremely painful subject for me. THANK YOU ♥️🌈✨

I'm definitely someone who has to feel out the harsh emotions before I can heal, and I think sometimes I don't realize that that's not always helpful or desired.

Hi Jacob, I think your videos are great. I love the animation, especially the baby and it’s facial expressions when it’s needs are not being met. That is powerful. But your content and the gentle, kind, forgiving and compassionate way that you put it across is more powerful. So to see more of your content I would forgo the animation. Thank you for spending the time to cover this so important subject area. I look forward to seeing more
