For meet goats. You need 5' fence. Electric top and bottom!

The new baby goats are so cute. Poor momma goat doesn't get a break with her babies jumping on her. Lol. Nice job on the fencing. Greetings from Wisconsin. Karen

I never thought to use the trees! So smart!
@olduglyfarmhouse593 жыл бұрын
I learned the hard way that using trees as posts wasn’t a good idea long term. The tree will grow into the wire. You’ll lose the wire and run your chainsaw chain if you ever have to cut down the tree.

We separated ours with an electrified poultry netting. It's nice that you can move it around - so far it's keeping them all in.

I just heard about goat towers today. If I had goats, I think that would be fun. It's basically a silo with stairs around the inside and outside. The goats climb up into the silo and sleep there at night.

My goats have jumped over 5 ft fence at one point. My suggestion is keep those. those are good goats.

In my experience the magic key to keeping goats in your fencing is to make sure they have some brush to enjoy and move them daily. If they've already munched on an area they're going to get bored lol

@@FLPhotoCatcher I love sheep ❤️ But while the products are similar, they fill different biological niches and have different jobs on the land

Sheep are easier to keep, and are less damaging to trees and plants, etc. We have hair sheep that are a Katahdin-Dorper mix. No shearing needed, and they are quite hardy - and the lambs are very cute!

Sounds fantastic, I’ve been considering sheep to add to my chickens I’ve been raising a few years now. I’ve heard goats were more problems then sheep. Got any advice where to get these sheep you mentioned in your comment? Didn’t notice where your located? But I’m in Camas, Washington myself. Be glad to see some pictures of them if you got em to show my wife if not too much trouble?

Ever used a shady grass seed in the wooded areas for pasture grass ?
@priestesslucy3 жыл бұрын
If it's for goats they'd honestly prefer more scrub over grass. Especially things like huckleberry or vine maple

Hey can you add a link for the fencing you're using here? I'm looking for some fencing along those lines, but have yet to find it at any farm stores in my area.

I wouldn't do any clearing back in the new goat pasture (except any clearing necessary to put in fencing.) Let them eat up that brush lol If you want more light in there, after their first pass you can pull the fencing and drop some of the big trees.
@kylancook34773 жыл бұрын
His plan is to put in a pole barn where all the pastures are at, he's just using them to clear it in the mean time

Aloha, Todd. Great video. Question about your successful “goat & sheep fencing”: what is the measurement of the wire mesh? Is each square 4” x 4” ? Thank you … we’re prepping to get a couple of Nigerian Dwarf wethers so your feedback is so helpful :)

Yes it is 4”x4” woven wire.
