Today i was in a store and one of the staff was talking to me about... cooking and gardening. She said... she loves to grow vegetables... but doesnt have enough room on her condo patio...plus what soil she has... in the ground is not good. I pulled out my phone pics and showed her all my totes that you inspired and taught me how to set up. She was shocked that i had that in such a small patio and that had SOOO much growing. You really can make up for small square footage... by tiering up on chairs... and for me... 2x4's on stacked cinderblocks. I enjoy sharing the wealth of knowledge i have learned from you and Gary. Thank You for bringing more and more!

Living with limited mobility gardening became (sadly) to difficult. Then came along Robbie with her beautiful chair garden. And now my deck has become a beautiful oasis of gardening that I can easily access. And that turned my frown right side up. 😄 The compost tea that comes out of the totes is amazing!!! I have never before had plants so green and lush. A million and one thank you's I'm a believer 🙏

Robbie, you are brilliant! I have no choice but to do totes on chairs or a table. We have horrid gophers that don’t let us plant anything unless the plant’s roots are wrapped in chicken-wire baskets. (What a pain!!!). All of the destructive insects of Central California must have moved here and into our crumby clay soil. 😂 I’m hooked on your ideas. Composting in place - brilliant! Compost tea, layering, starting seeds, creating soil, bird water features, tulle - brilliant! You have given me so much hope. You teach very effectively. Thank you for all the ideas and encouragement. I love your gardens! ♥️ Evy

Thank you Robbie, for teaching us about using totes! We've been watching you & Gary's channel for at least 6 or 7 years now. We were renting, so we started off successfully growing tomatoes in one tote. Since then, we kept adding on more totes. We're now growing quite a variety of trees, veggies, fruit & flowers in at least 2 dozen totes & containers in our own yard! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have what we have because of the gophers! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Blessings to you both, your family & of course, your pups, hummingbirds, birds, lizards, fish & dragonflies! 💜

Listening to your enthusiasm and watching your success gives me motivation to continue my transformation from in-ground growing to container growing. I have large perennial beds and extensive woodland gardens that require most of my attention. Growing vegetables is secondary to me so having a method that is easy and requires less attention is wonderful. Sometimes I listen to your videos just to make me feel the enthusiasm you enjoy and to remind me that perfection isn't always my friend when it comes to the garden.

Use the tulle (the netting fabric used for wedding dresses) technique Robbie uses as she has deer too. She gets garden stakes and puts them at corners and in between and drapes the tulle fabric around and can go over the top if need be. Lots of critters don’t like the tulle including the deer. Sun and water can get through. $10 a bolt goes far and lasts at least one to a few years depending where you are. A very cheap solution that doesn’t hurt any creature either. It worked for my peach tree. I always lost my peaches to the squirrels but last year I wrapped the trunk and covered the top with tulle (small tree only 3 years old at the time) and finally got my harvest. Keep watching she’s got great ideas and affordable too.

Totes are the way I garden and I love gardening that way. Hardly any weeding, can control the water, and can keep them safe from the voles/moles. I covered my squash with tulle this year and uncovered them when they began flowering to allow for pollination. They are happy and I am now getting small squash. This is just so fun and efficient- with time, resources, space.

Hi Robbie, I'm from New Zealand and love watching you videos. One thing you might try, I bought some carrots from the supermarket last year, pushed them in my soil whole, to let them regrow, becuase I had heard that carrot tops are good to eat... I didn't like them but left the carrots thinking they would die and the old carrots would feed the garden worms... they didn't die in fact they grew so well they started flowering, the small birds and insects when crazy over the flowers, they just loved them, they eventually went to seed, and once they dried out I picked the seed Heads crumble them up and got about 2 1/2 million seeds. I started growing the seeds but the chickens that I have scratch them up but there's still quite a few around I'm a quarter acre Food Forest but they will take 2 years to go to see generally so I'm going to buy another 20 or so carrots and do the same thing this year the very very biggest carrots that I planted I got about 40 seed heads off each plant which I feel was worthwhile even if the seeds didn't grow since the insects in birds had such a lovely time with the flowers and the flowers were so pretty to look at

I was so excited after watching this video I found an old ice chest, put sticks, leaves straw, a couple scoops from the compost pile and some old dirt from empty pots. As I have a yard that's wildly uneven and shaded by my neighbor's trees, I've cut back my veggie gardening over the last several years - even tubs weren't working. But this year I tried some packs of mixed seeds for pollinators in pots on my deck railing and they did fantastic! I had bees, hummers, butterflies and all sorts of pollinating insects. I am so excited to have more of these types of pots - eliminating the veggies was sad, but providing many insects with food and habitat is just the best! I may try some herbs mixed in, and who knows, a tomato plant or two may be planted in there eventually. There are many ways to garden and bring beauty and joy into the experience. Thanks, Robbie & Gary.

Oh Robbie, you are a TREASURE!! I have shared your videos with many of my family and friends. We have all been talking about trying to grow a few things, but have been too afraid that it will be hard or unsuccessful. I stumbled onto your channel, watched a couple videos and I’m ready to end world hunger from a container garden! You are precious… keep being exactly who God made you to be! You are positive, encouraging, inspiring, and just completely delightful ❤️Thank you, thank, thank you for your wisdom!! I wish I could give you a big hug… you’re like my favorite auntie, lol!! God bless you!! 💗🪴🙏🏻

Let me just say, I love all your contents.. I have problems with oak trees and 360 degree around the house that it was so hard to grow in raised beds. Now I slowly moved/ made tubes to grow all my veggies. I also put small containers inside to make it self watering., thanks for all your information and encouragement.

Ugh, was only 39• when I got up this morning here in Michigan. I new it was going to get cold so I covered my tomato plants last night. Not freezing but I felt I should protect them anyway.

Wow! Still? We are having a heat surge when we usually aren't this hot. Did your tomatoes make it?

@@qweeknee4208 Yes they did. I have them in pots and some zucchini in totes on my deck. We've now been hit with tons of pounding rain for 3 days. More to come. I moved what I could inside my gazebo. The others I had to cover.

Hi Parbattie Zednik, my husband and I got a system going... We reused the sod around the new bed he would cut it out, bang out as much as he could and I would finish it off with rubbing it between two bricks. Got a lot of soil that way. Add used the dried grass for mulch.. Then we added three miracle grow soil bags and 3 compost bags to it.

I made a recycled wooden fence for raise bed and just bought a clearance raised bed soil and maybe cost me $30.00 then I filled the bottom with leaf molds and dry leaves before filling with raised bed soil 👍

I used styrofoam in a huge pot I had that I planted flowers in and when the season was over I cleaned my container and the slugs and snails had moved in the foam city!! So I haven’t used it since! Lol! I love your videos and content!! I’ve learned a lot about container gardening. ☮️

Tubs, pots, bins, what ever are a great way to garden. I did a garden in the ground for a few years and it was miserable due to all the Bermuda grass that would grow in it. Now, you can weed your pots, totes, bins easily and quickly. So much better than in the ground.

I love your channel, I now have 11 totes and am growing 9 varieties of tomatoes, corn, sugar baby watermelon. My squash is struggling but it just needs a refresh in its soil. The critters have not figured it out yet. I will definitely add more totes to bring in more pollinators. Everything is green and so great so far, better than last year!

I love your videos .. just seeing all the wood chips on your ground, I imagine you have a lot -literally- of garden soil under those old wood chips by now. I had a huge Back to Eden style garden and could push my hand through the soil on the hottest summer days after a few years:) I am collecting tubs now and starting over in the desert. My gardens were hard to move away from! Now, I’ll be using palm fronds and everything/anything I can find, will buy old hay, am shredding paper/cardboard bc there is no grass to compost here. I’ll buy the cheapest soil-thanks for that and many hints! 💕

I have some totes now and have used a lot of your tips and advice 👍 😊 I don't put food scraps such as vegetable or fruit on the bottom because it gets dug up by raccoons. I do use green matter, twigs, and pine cones and needles.
