Wow, fantastic. I wasn't sure if you could cut them back/height but this has answered my concerns. I have 5 pots of 6ft black bamboo currently that look like they could do with repotting but I was worried they would grow too tall as I only want say 12ft. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, that was so good. Straight forward and has made me rethink buying some bamboo. The full grown height of the golden always frightens me (small garden) but the smaller varieties are to bendy over. Nice to see how easy they are to top at the desired height.

Best video on pruning so far, thank you. How can get regrown from cut bamboo? Can I put it in a bucket, let it sprout and pot it?
@bamboosourcery4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, bamboo does not propagate from cuttings like that.

Thank you for the info. I've been growing some different sorts of bamboo for a few years. Some parts are very thick. I'm looking for the bigger longer new grow. My question is. If I dig out the smaller growth will it encourage and free up space for newer big shoots? I have successfully removed portions in the past by cutting the rhizome and removing shoots with roots intact, to put in pots. Just not sure if this will help the remaining bamboo to get bigger or not? Thanks again mate
@bamboosourcery4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Any extra root mass you can give the new growth will encourage bigger shoots.
@JoshuaCussins4 жыл бұрын
@@bamboosourcery All the bamboo is connected underground to form a colony. As this colony of "Rhizomes" gets larger, thicker shoots will emerge to catch sun rays (photosynthesis) and accommodate the increased size of water the plant can now suck up. So you want a big colony. Cutting out smaller shoots at the base, just above ground level shouldn't hurt the colony (not making colony smaller. Any cutting to the Rhizome itself, will separate the plant into at least 2 or more different plants. (Dividing the colony into two smaller colonies) so maybe ill just take off-set from the edge of the colony(the runners) not from the middle of the pack.
