planted my bamboo in giant bottom less containers, since the rhizomes are surface growers gave them enough space to spread and 15 years later I do not need to do this process,I harvest with ease and the regrowth is perfect,

🧐🧐🧐CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BAMBOO is not a hideous uncontrollable monster. It is a beautiful plant that enhances your home green foliage. It is green all year round. BUT IT NEEDS TENDER LOVING CARE. It grows and spreads if not controlled. If it was a CASH CROP you would be rich within 4 years. If you could splice its strong cellular growth traits with CORN or SUGARCANE they would be virtually indestructible cash crops. They would find water no matter where you put it. All you would need to do is harvest the money.

I appreciate your details on methodology but I would also like to see the results and time-frame in which the cuttings are mature enough for transplanting.

My experience started on 20240724WED and it turned out a total flop!... :/ I cut & planted DOZENS of Fargesia Rufa (I guess...) cane sections like those... They are all yellow, now. Were the tops supposed to stay green only from watering into the cane holes - not the soil, too? - everyday?

Great video brother & wow what a massive rhizome I’m working on a container grow for black bamboo so it won’t escape & take over. Personally, I love the way a bamboo jungle looks, but it just absolutely kills everything around it so I can’t let it escape. So movable container jungles it is. Not sure how possible it is considering the containers can only be so big but they’ve been sprouting new sprouts for a month tallest shoots are probably 6 foot now, baby’s are probably 8” I hope this works out for me. Really I’d really like to make some rain sticks and some windchimes. and Ive been working on a tropical rainforest look raised bed. I live at the Crystal Coast of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. 🤙🏽

Dig a hole, put the bamboo inside, light it up from the top when it’s all burning nicely and hot cover it with soil, wet sawdust or ricehusk. Let the bamboo burn without oxygen. This way you have a much better output in quality and quantity

That is not the right method for running bamboo. You end up multiple plant in each chunk

Does this work with clumping bamboo. I would love to see how to plant those root pieces but mainly on clumping bamboo as that tends to be the variety that is preferred in Australia

I just planted some bamboo to use to feed my goats. I planted in 2 different spots last year. Looks like the one location didn't survive because the chickens got in and scratch it up. I don't see any new growth any more. The other site has a few new canes, but I have caught a couple goats in side the fence. (obviously, they like bamboo) So far, it is still showing life. Just planted another area about a month ago. So far I have managed to keep critters away from it. I am thinking that the goats will help to control the spread. They are obviously eager to do so.
