Car guys will build just about anything. From turbocharged race cars to off road vehicles - people are always trying to think outside the box. However my buddy Andy decided to do something completely different. He took a Ford powerstroke Ambulance, stripped it down, and turned it into their tiny home on the go! By utilizing budget materials, creativity, and just using what they had; Andy has built something very special. I'm looking at a Type ll ambulance to convert and it has the same fiberglass top. Did you find that it was able to handle the weight of solar panels? And did you happen to put in a roof fan? I'm planning on having three 200 or 300 watt panels on top. Thanks!

I actually thought about doing something similar with a Transit Connect. It was gonna be a very interesting project too because a Connect is basically a Focus van, so it doesn't have hardly any meaningful towing capacity. So I was going to put a Class 3 hitch on it, turbocharge the engine plus trans and engine/turbo intercoolers, and beef up the transmission. Would it haul a car? Likely, but more likely on a car dolly, I doubt it'd haul a loaded full-size trailer with spare tires/wheels, tools, and 4 people (max). I was also gonna have the middle bench seat to sleep on and fold it flat to face the fold-out monitors on the side panels to play games, but then that gets into how would I power the consoles/computers without the van running... it was just stuff I thought of while working at a Ford dealership and spending a few days tearing vinyls off a transit van lol. But still not a bad project idea I may still consider. It's that or a Tahoe SS inspired by the Silverado SST concept

Ambulances are also the best. Although not as refreshing as Cheerwine, depending on what your definition of refreshing is. I suppose an ambulance could be refreshing to the occupant in terms of providing a life-saving IV. But as an outside observer I usually feel sad when I see an ambulance. Cheerwine always makes me happy though.

I actually want a decommissioned ambulance as a tow rig for my drift car I use a wheelchair so I would install a wheelchair lift in the back of it and install tool box cabinets

Another thing to take in to consideration would be a decommissioned Cheerwine van. They are very similar to decommissioned ambulances and I'm sure it would do great as a tow rig and have ample space for a wheelchair lift. I wish you the best on your future build!

1. "The older you get..." this coming from two 20 yr olds. Ha ha ha! Hey, you two, you are still wet behind the ears from being born. Don't talk about getting older. 2. Why is this video entitled 'How To'? Not a single mod shown. All I saw were two young men talking their heads off with bad audio about stuff that had nothing to do with the ambulance conversion. Pretty misleading title. 3. The young woman in back had no seat belt on. If she died while you two chatted yourselves into a tree, you would be responsible. If you don't have an extra seat belt, do not risk your passenger's lives. Please put your belts on. Sitting on a bed in back where cabinets can fly open and hit you is not safe. Be upfront near cab area. 9:32 - Keep your hands on the wheel dude! I'm getting an anxiety attack looking at this. Talking, filming, driving, with no hands on wheel. 4. The dude doing most of the talking while behind the wheel (focus on the road!) is the one supposedly interviewing the other who did the build. Rule #1 in interviews - Let the other guy talk. You are the observer not the builder. 5. Blood is the stuff of life. It is not gross. It runs in your veins. It is what keeps you alive. If blood bothers you, don't buy an ambulance. Of course it can be cleaned! Clean it out with enzymes. Enzymes dissolve all organic stains like grass, blood, wine, urine, etc. Get an enzyme based cleaner, then follow up with laundry detergent that is also enzyme based. Dish soap by contrast is not. 6. If there had been 3 men in the van riding together, you want to bet you would have involved the 3rd guy in some conversation too? Absolutely! Yet, the young woman in the back appeared to be decoration. Its rude. It shows a lack of manners, and its very patronizing of your female passengers. You may not have much to talk about as common interests, but it is civil to involve her equally in the conversation, especially when broadcasting this to the public. It is very good manners to include everyone in the vehicle in the common conversation. 7. Young Lady - this is for you. Do not tolerate being talked over by anyone. Its a very common thing that guys do and they need to be made aware that this is not okay. They may just be unaware or it may be deliberate. You may think this is okay but it really is not. There is enough sexism in the world, we do not need to encourage it. 8. On the plus side, this looks like a pretty decent build and I loved the ladder and roof rack. I wish you had shown us more of the van. The audio needs to be improved with a lapel mic and video is fuzzy too.
