*What kind of lunatic would use such a backwards system of measurement?* I recently bought a few metric tape measures and switched over to using metric for all my home projects. Millimeters (mm) are way easier than dealing with inch fractions, like 5/8” and 5/16", or those crazy inch decimals. Metric requires less effort to remember your measurements and helps you quickly cut accurately.

Very helpful. I understood. But if I use an online calculator for this, how do I type a fraction into the calculator on my phone or laptop?!😢

I'm sure a quick search online or on your cell phone app store will help you find many different options. Most of which are free.

Wow what an absolutely crackpot way of doing things. Just measure stuff in metric from the get go and the calculations are a doddle. Why the hell do people still insist on all this insanity of converting fractions and factors of twelve, three, or whatever???
