I downloaded CFW 4.91 BETA 1 successfully by following this tutorial but i noticed it has problems like when I connect to psn the games or apps give me an error “8001003A” when I launch them…. My questions are : 1 - I want to to upgrade from BETA 1 to BETA 6, can i do the same way on this video or do i need another way ? 2 - when i put my disk in the BD it gets stuck hallfway so do i need to donwload NO BD VERSION or NORMAL VERSION should be fine? 3 - and lastly from BETA 2 and above when you extract the file it doesn’t have MD5.txt should i be fine upgrading without comparing md5? I gotta get my hands on a PS3 that's able to have CFW. I love my super slim it does most of what I want it to do as in a CFW but I think CFW is still superior overall for obvious reasons.

even if the system is clean (no webman or others) and activated for games, HEN crashes 1 out of 5 times or almost certainly after launching an application again. it's unstable especially in the new versions (4.89 or higher), the old versions however were much more stable (i use hen on 4.84)

i only went HEN because it looked the simpler than CFW, one drunken night round my partners place who also has a PS3 slim i stumbled across this video so i watched another one of his and found out hers wont work on CFW as its "too new" so HEN is all her console can do, when i came home MrMario came up in my youtube again and i thought "is mine old enough?" turns out it was and i was able to go from HEN to CFW, its been running fine for about 2 months now :), this guy is awsome :D couldnt of done it without him, yes im re watching but thats to top up anything i may of forgotten :)

I would recommend researching it if you want to get a more granular approach on it, but from what I know in short it has to do with 3.55 signing keys. That did not change until after 3.56, which is why consoles with a minimum firmware version higher than 3.56 cannot take a full custom firmware.

So when I get a mismatch between res0 and res1, because I clearly have installed CFW on my PS3 many years ago and I just updated to OFW 4.91 with a new 500gb hard drive, then I should install that old CFW multiple times to get res0 and res1 back in sync before proceeding? It's the only warning with the dump checker.

Found out I can apply the same OFW 4.91 update again via the Settings > System Update > Update from USB and that got both ROS0 and ROS1 into the same state. Disco.

After downloading and installing the game I try to access it through homebrew, when opening the game the screen goes black and the console makes 3 beeps and turns off. I installed the webman, multiman and irisman applications but none of them detects these PKG games that I am installing. I do not know what else to do. If I install CFW 4.91 would it solve this problem? Or what could I do to be able to play these games while maintaining HFW?

hfw is essentially ofw modified to allow ps3hen to be installed. cfw is a largely CustomFirmWare which has benefits over hen such as being able to downgrade, overclock, use nobluetooth and nobluraydrive firmwares, play ps2 isos, and many other features. If all you use your ps3 for is playing ps3 games, chances are you have no real need for cfw
