This will provide a really hearty, satisfyingly meal. The pot's similar to our traditional Jamaican Dutch pot. The best for cooking stews! Lempie, I also like it spicy.

What parts of the beef did you add?? What is the bulbous piece in the bowl? Asking from the American diaspora.

It looks to me like the head at the top joint of a leg bone, from a hip joint. I'd suspect any big bones would do, they'd all provide collagen, gelatin and fat. I've been doing a search for vegan traditional Namibian recipes, so this food isn't for me. What does confuse me is why, with Namibia's long coastline, that I can't find recipes for fish, and only find one one for shellfish. I know that snoek (pike) and other fish are abundant off their coast, but I'd strongly discourage people from eating any of it because the recreational and commercial fishing lines, and the illegal gillnets they use in Namibia, slaughter the cape fur seals, they die an agonizing, slow death. But they do fish there anyway, yet nothing about the common people cooking it. Very sad and cruel. Black eyed peas (what they seem to call white beans) and rice provide quality complete protein, you don't need to eat animals at all, especially since Namibia is a poor country and meat is always the most expensive part of a diet. I've found recipes for rusks and fried bread, but not much else for a vegan. It's not for me. One website even had a recipe that called for "dead meat,"' and I've got to wonder what other kind there is. It's all slaughtered. Maybe it was a language barrier. I'm sorry but this recipe does t sound delicious to me.

OMG that is not how you make potjie kos!!!! The flavours should come naturally from the meat and spices no need to add soo much stock. Reply to this message if you want me to teach you how to make an original proper potjie kos. Just trying to help👀💛

I like my stew very rich in flavour and for this I use the stock to intensify the meaty taste.
