4:30 To avoid splashes of fat, you can simply use a pan splash guard. And yes, there is a single German word for that: Pfannenspritzschutz.

how to cook bratwurst: you take a wurst and brat it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@germankitty

I usually cover the bottom of the pan with half a cm of water, put in the fresh bratwurst and bring the water to a boil. Pre-cook the wurst for maybe two minutes on each side, discard the water, dry the pan and heat some plant fat (solid or oil) then fry the wurst until golden brown on all sides. You can use any pan you want, the wurst won't split, it'll splash less, be done sooner and evenly cooked in about 10 minutes altogether. Easy.

I always use Butaris (butter flavour) and a little bit of sunflower oil (more heat resistance) Spices: sweet paprika powder and at least 2 rosemary sprigs

"sunflower oil (more heat resistance)" Should not make much of a diffrence. Butaris has a smoking point of 205°C and refined sun flower oil has usually between 210°C and 225°C. There are brands with lower and also with a higher smoke point. It depends which part of the refine the company sells. The oil helps that the ghee won't get as hard when it cools down again. When you buy the cheaper brands rape oil (I mean the plant ^^) / canola oil or mixtures of it that are sold for frying like Biskin or Albaöl or some soy or sesame oil from the asian section are the better options if you want a heat resistant oil. Grape seed oil has also a quite goiod smoke point and taste a little fresher when you use it for salads. In doubt I would take an oil where the temperature is given. If there is none given, it is problably not good for frying.

"Ah, the elusive 'Bratwust'-not a thing! Instead, we have 'Bratwurst,' a genius mash-up of 'braten' (to fry or sear) and 'Wurst' (sausage). Because let’s face it, any sausage worth its salt is destined for searing, grilling, or frying. Here in Germany, we don’t just have one type of Bratwurst; we’ve turned it into an art form! From Thüringer Rostbratwürste to Nürnberger, the variety is endless-different sizes, recipes, casings, you name it. There are raw, cooked, smoked types, coarse or fine textures, and yes, even Fischbratwurst made from fish! So, asking a German how they prepare a Bratwurst? It’s like asking an American their secret burger or chili recipe. Every method has its champions, and trust me, we take it very seriously!"

Pro tip. You can prevent Brats from popping by poaking them with a knife or fork befor friying. It releases the vapor.

My grandma takes oil as well, but I personally prefer butter. Another way of making a bratwurst is putting it on an open fire (usually a grill) instead of using the pan. In this case you don't need any oil or fat.

butter is not a good oil for frying things like a bratwurst because butter burns at around 150°C while sunflower oil only burns at around 230°C. If you fry a bratwurst like in the video with butter it will burn the butter and be carcinogenic

~3:00 The steel pan is wrong. Every time when you want to roast something: Take a pan of casted iron. That works for everything: from Steak, Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Omelette to the most delicious things ... fried potatoes ... or pancakes. If you like to eat, invest 100 or 200 bugs in a cast iron pan. If you shorten your life with unhealthy stuff, at least it should taste good. :D

You don't need a full brown sausage. Only 2-3 minutes from both sides. And better a fine sausage.

i've never seen anyone fry a bratwurst evenly on all sides, that's just weird D: you'll usually fry it on two sides because that's how they'll end up lying in the pan from the slight curvature anyway, and frying it in (way less) fat is recommended! one thing my family does that adds an amazing taste to the bratwurst is smearing a bit of mustard on both sides where the sausage will touch the pan before you start frying it!

OMG Too much sience - There is only one rule i know: Don‘t burn them or eat them pink inside. And pan fright is a winter dish served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Mostly. Here in my region. BBQ grilled is a summer dish served with … what ever you want: potatoe salad, kraut salad, bread, inside a bread roll… Mustard is perfekt, ketchup is fine but ketchup never in combination with sauerkraut.

Looks pretty normal to me. Maybe a little much oil. This is how we used to make them at home for lunch with potatotes and sauerkaut. You can also use a fryer. When you have a BBQ you will put the on the grill of corse. If you don't have a graden or you are not allowed to use a coial or gass grill on your balcony, you can use an electro grill. It must get brown from all sides and it should not burst. This is important.

No, you can't heat up butter this much. You mean Butterschmalz, clearified butter / ghee. You can take butter for fried eggs. You don't need much heat for it.

I am offended a a hobby home cook of how much oil she uses at this point she might as well just use a deep fryer lmso And these are not pre steMed or pre boiled sausagges these where raw sausages u can use that but i never would use them for friying it in a pan pnly for the grill as u see ur self its a war zone Pre boiled / stesmed has the benifit of not needing so much and so hot oil wich wont ruin ur whole clothes and kitchen and u csn use a stone pan in generell i recoment stone pans instad of teflon the, also exist as so called grillpgannen grilm psns where u cVe a rifles surfsce that will gibe u stripes like on a grill jeh it needs to cook longer at a lower temp but u dont ruin ur kitchen

That's why it's called Bratwurst and not rocket science sausage. The sausages from the video are sold as "grobe Bratwurst" for a pan. Real "Bratwurst" looks different and is for german charcoal grills.

When frying a bratwurst in the pan, it's important to remember that the oil will splatter like hell. It's best to get a small camping gas stove and do it on the balcony or in the garden. Otherwise, the kitchen could look as if an oil bomb had exploded in it. And don't forget to put on safety glasses. It's cheaper than new eyes!!!!

What the heck is wrong with her. Who fries a Bratwurst in Oil, that's ridiculous. First of all Germans love barbecue so Number 1 spot for your bratwurst is the charcoal grill. If you have not this option then at least you use butter and no oil for your pan.
