At the end it just looked like you were gonna toss the bags into space between your wall and your fridge and I had to laugh

Problems starting with canned veggies: 1) Yuck 2) They've literally been soaking in water

Canned veggies are not for everyone, thats for sure. I know a few people who grab the frozen veggie combos to dehydrate - same same. ~ Lauren

Do these vegetables retain their nutritional value?

It's my understanding that food will lose some nutritional value when exposed to heat during dehydration, just how much is lost I don't know though sorry. ~ Ben

I dont know if you care but dehydrating food removes its water content leeching vitamin A and C from the food

@@SnowysOutdoorsbasically the higher the temp the more they lose, it’s less than they lose being cooked tho and it’s worth remembering some veg becomes more nutritious when cooked so which veg is definitely a factor too
@logan32377 ай бұрын
I've heard it only loses a maximum of 30% and you can easily get that back with the right additions!

They loose 40% of their nutritional value but not if you Freeze dry them which is what I will start doing

It seems pretty useless to dehydrate if you have to freeze your dehydrated meals. Why do you freeze them?
@SnowysOutdoors10 ай бұрын
At home dehydration is different to freeze dried. Dehydrated stuff is fine out of the freezer short term but if your storage container isn't 100% air tight or you live somewhere that's humid, and the food rehydrates even very slightly it is more susceptible to spoilage. If you're not going to use it within a few weeks, chucking it in the freezer lasts forever. ~ Lauren

Right, which is why I don’t get putting it in the freezer. It would make more sense to vacuum seal it and put it on your shelf than to freeze it and introduce moisture that way. Freezing doesn’t ensure anything will last forever- especially if you’re planning on taking it backpacking. Once it’s been defrosted the moisture will begin the spoilage process.

You dont really "cook" it do you, you only prepare it. Inaccurate title...

Semantics...I say I'm going to "cook dinner" even if I only end up making a salad. People get where you're going with it ~ Lauren
