What a great video and thanks for your honest conclusion about oven roast having the edge but taking longer.

Thank you David, it is very much a recipe for scratching that midweek treat!

I like my roasties a bit bigger, I don't cut them so small like that. I parboil mine in a pan first for 20-30 minutes. Drain the water & then agitate them (bash them about a bit!) in the pan before putting them in the Actifry. Just a tip for everyone, makes great roasties.

20/30 minutes is way beyond par boiling
@Via_The_Void Жыл бұрын
@@KM-pq7jk That's with using cold salted water allowing it to heat. Ten minute simmering with boiled water.

Enjoy Emily. My perfect oven roasted potato is on my channel, get practicing now in time for Christmas 😂

You could par boil them and add your seasonings, just reduce time needed!

Did you wash them first, I've read they need to be washed and dried first x
@BigSpud2 жыл бұрын
You can wash them if you want. I rub off obvious dirt with my fingers and that's all. They are then going to sit in a high heat for a long time if you are worried about contamination.
@cathmorgans97222 жыл бұрын
@@BigSpud thanks for the reply, no I'm not worried at all about contamination lol, I saw somewhere once that they need to be washed and dried with kitchen paper before cooking roasties and chips. Think it was something to do with the starch or something x.
@BigSpud2 жыл бұрын
@@cathmorgans9722 I can't detect any difference when I air fry 'roast' potatoes.
@Emsie763 жыл бұрын
What temp did you put them on?
@BigSpud3 жыл бұрын
My model doesn't have a temperature setting. Sorry! I would use whatever temp your model suggests for chips / fries.
@sarahdouglas58513 жыл бұрын
I believe that model is automatically set at 338 degrees...

I guess it's a preference; but I would have washed and not peeled those potatoes. Thanks for the video though. Just about to try our actifry for the first time.
@BigSpud3 жыл бұрын
You're right you absolutely can leave them unpeeled. They are more nutritious that way too.
@thomascatt57363 жыл бұрын
Though I still upvoted, I was also expecting a mention of the temperature used, not just the time.
@BigSpud3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the upvote. However my actifry does not have a temperature setting! Literally on or off.

Make sure you use the right potatoes otherwise they drop to bits .. but the bits are lovely

Many thanks for the comment and you aren't wrong. This was a very early video for me and I was still working out my equipment. I should probably remake this one.
