How to Cook SUMAN MALAGKIT | SUMAN MALAGKIT with LATIK SAUCE | Filipino Kakanin Recipe
Suman Malagkit with Coconut Caramel Sauce are the perfect snack or dessert. With steamed or boiled sticky rice cake drizzled with rich and creamy coconut caramel sauce.
INGREDIENTS:
4 1/2 cups or (1kg) glutinous rice
4 1/2 cups coconut milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. anise seeds
For the Coconut Caramel (Latik) Sauce:
1/2 cup coconut cream
1/2 cup panutsa/sinakob-sugarcane molasses
(use brown sugar/mascuvado sugar if not not available)

That reminds me of my lola! Does it really need to be submerged in water? I thought it only needed to be steamed.

It can also be submerged in water, but steaming is much better

It can be steamed and it can be submerged. It depends on preference, steamed would result in harder grains while submerged makes all grains softer. My family use submerged because the softness blends well with the sauce.
