Arlene, thank you and may God bless you! Spice Island in the pot is, by far, the best Trini recipe videos, ever. Cooking with “sweet hans” and always with love. So proud of you! I’m a 72 year old Trini to the bone grandmother although I came to U.K. in 1956 aged 10 and have spent time in the States too. You bring me back to my early childhood and learning these delicious recipes by watching my beautiful, deceased mother cook these dishes from scratch. Now back living in the Greater London area, I try to make these delicious dishes of my islands in the sun, sweet T&T. Sometimes it is hard to source some seasoning ingredients, e.g. Chandon beni and seasoning pimentos and rely on family members bringing up after visits Home. Please don’t stop Arlene! Keep them coming! Your videos are joyful! ❤️🇹🇹❤️ Carol Gonzalez

Hi Arlene. This is Angel from Trinidad using my daughter's cellphone today. I really admire you. I also dislike the finger looking dumplings which some call spinners. It is not clean because it is scientifically proven that bacteria lives on our skin. Therefore those spinners are loaded with germs. Ugh! Keep smiling.

Looks good, did you know cilantro and dhal go really well together, you could sprinkle chopped cilantro on the hot soup and leave it for five minutes, the taste would be even more delicious .

I have just discovered your channel. I like the way you explain everything in detail. I appreciate your introduction re freezing. I have not seen others saying what can be frozen. We grew up not freezing our food and it is good to know what we can go ahead and freeze. This is important these days. Great for anyone who wants to learn Trinidadian dishes especially for people who have very little experience in cooking. I am now revisiting our Trini cuisine and your videos will help a lot. By the way, how long have they been making corn soup? I don't recall having it when I was growing up.

Nice video, but word of advice, get rid of that heavy thumping beat in the beginning while you are speaking. It is very distracting and oh-so-annoying trying to hear what you are saying over it.
