An old time rider once told me if you are having a hard time getting around some one who is approximately the same speed as you, wait until you here their motor shut down just before the corner. Then hold it on the pipe just a little bit longer. Sooner than later you'll be passing them.

Terrific guidance. Only thing I would ask for greater elaboration in is the critical juncture from acceleration to deceleration. I feel coasting is too vaugue. I prefer maintain speed. We use this in car racing and and the deceleration/ acceleration transition is not black or white. In theory it’s nice to aim for but making a mistake is the bigger cost to bear. Hitting the line and finding that line to maximize the acceleration is perhaps more important than a perfect deceleration without any coasting. Kyle is amazing in his articulate teaching of technique. Great material!

Great advice. We all appreciate it. You didn’t put this together in the work bathroom at your second job trying to buy some iffy performance parts. I tried to lay out a corner track for us all to use. Guy wanted damages, permission, and waiver of all liability. I had to maintain it, clean it up daily, and each rider had to pay him. And restore it to previous condition. Can’t have the bicycle kids getting hurt. Also, post a bond,$$ Being a big name and having a pr man put up with the bs is easy. As soon as I made a couple mains (1by default) the ‘boys ‘ wouldn’t go for it. Lost all access to their old parts, help in truing wheels, advice on suspension settings. They’re in van sleeping like puppies in a box. No more at gas station,”man, you look tired. I’ll drive a couple hours and you take a nap. “ Made us move to the end of infield away from the stars for convenience of the press, and “maybe they’re lifting tools and stuff from us. “ . The used tires I used to get now had holes drilled in them. Chains and sprockets hit with shop hammer. On the track the guys in 3-5 th would bump and crowd more than usual. Had to quit taking my oil field boss dad to the track after he saw what was going on and picked a couple guys off the ground by their scrawny necks. Only so many places at the big table. It’s vicious in the levels below yours. City near me had 3 dealers that have 100% restored the racing machines their daddies built for them. In little museums, oh yeah , gas and they run. Don’t touch. Dealerships are theirs now, priss around in their bermudas, polo shirts, white socks and tennies. Off season, why don’t you drop in to these places and Shane these pricks into letting you stars see how good or bad these old machines are. Couldn’t tell you no.

Thanks very much, a lot of very good tips here. Two comments I would like to make. Firstly, i believe its good practice to try and keep your feet on the pegs through turns, as much as you can. You see the pros like ken roczen and eli tomac feet up alot. Secondly I find myself "over thinking" when riding. 15 tips is a lot to keep in mind!
@ridewiththeknights3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roost! Glad you enjoyed the video! 15 tips is a lot to handle. It would be overwhelming practicing 3 or 4 tips at a time, let alone all 15. We recommend only selecting 1 tips to practice at a time! Happy Riding :)

I noticed riding at Cahuilla a day ago that when I got arm pump I instantly wanted to sit down and when coming into braking bumps sitting down it was a lot rougher. It seems like common sense but little things we don’t think about when riding. My arms got more tired and the ride was rougher compared to holding on with my legs and standing up going into the corner. Standing up helped the bike absorb more of the bumps and made my legs hold on tighter. This meant a smoother ride, my arms not wearing down, and made it a lot easier to focus on what was to come next.

Wow. You're a terrific teacher. I should know, in a suburb training coach and Jenny if the tips you have see exactly what I teach the kids to use while driving. I'm an ex Amateur motocrosss racer and AMG DRIVING ACADEMY graduate. Combining my of road racing experience with the training from the Academy results in a high rate of students posting their road tests and parents thrilled with my teaching. As a journalist for AX and MX I've spoken with local Pro riders who can't teach with a lick, their talents are not intuitive. You however, are very capable of explaining not just the his, but the WHY. Guys, stay blessed. God willing didn't 2021 I can get back on the 03 250SX and for sure I'll be looking into your school. 💪🏻😎😎

As far as leaning into the turn. I am a old guy trying to get my skills back on a YZ250 2-stroke I had to totally work on the set up, and I find myself standing up in a turn after I lean the bike over for the angle. So I am leaning the bike, and not my body enough, and losing smoothness. I think I am going to work on offsetting my upper body about 6" to the inside of the bike just before I lean the bike over. That way my body will be more in position, and I lean the bike to match my body. I just saw Magoo doing it from the 82 super biker race, and a light went on in my head. :)

Nice tips and great explanation but i am missing one, and that is to drag the rear brake, clutch and apply throttle troughout the corner until the bike is straightup, but i am from a deep sand area, Holland - Belgium, so this does not apply everywhere, but it really helps precise steer a bike on fast sandy corners👍
