Here we have 45 dirt bike tips, trick, and hacks that will save you money, time, and headaches. What more could you want? Obviously this list is not ALL of the hacks that exist. It’s the just the ones that popped into my head and I wrote down on my while board while I was brainstorming in my dirt bike shop a few days ago. These are all things that I use to make my life easier as it relates to riding and working on bikes. Of course, I know there are many more, so maybe we'll make a follow up video later. I just had to stop somewhere. I've got some little bonus ones in there too. Enjoy!
Let me know what some of your favorite tips and tricks are down in the comments.

That WD-40 is NOT a chain lube, it’s a all in one spray. So it also does DEgreas your chain.
@GasGrassOrAssetto
@GasGrassOrAssetto 4 жыл бұрын
Fortnine has two good videos on chain lubes and cleaners. Recommends using simple green and a light (20w-50 IIRC) gear oil for cleaning then lubing. Simple green cleans without penetrating the seals that trap grease on the bushings, and gear oil penetrates and protects from rust well, however it picks up more contaminants during a ride than a PTFE dry lube.

Extra tips for you to add since this epic video can only get better. Sorry if you know these already. 1. When pulling a broken down bike with another other bike wrap the strap around the handle bars and instead of tying a knot hold the end on the grip...release your hand and the wrap unwinds nicely and safely. 2. Putting some air in a tube before mounting the tire does wonders for not pinching tubes. 3. Short people have a tougher time lifting a bike onto a stand...they want to lean the bike farther over before lifting and use the thigh of one of their legs to help lift. 3. The most popular tires are worthless in soft dirt...can't make a hill climb and get a IRC MB5...rides well on trails and will amaze everyone on the climbs and doesn't wear quickly. 4. You probably know now but hoses exist to screw into oil plug for quick draining. 5. When mounting a rear tire sit on the ground straddling the swing arms from the rear. Your legs work miracles for holding up the wheel while you finagle it on hoping the spacers won't pop out. 6. Tusk makes spacers that are smooth and don't pop off easily when mounting the year tire. 7. Cushion seats are amazing now...some performance lost but great on trail breaking bumps. 8. High compression radiator caps for technical slow riding. 9. Don't forget to turn bike on after filling full of oil because oil filter takes up a lot of oil and you will need to add more. 10. Make sure electrical components like starter relay aren't jiggling around because electrical parts don't like such things. I replaced my battery with an oversized one and therefore relay needed taping down after I realized the seat wasn't holding everything in place. Got to go, but hope that helps you add content. I have many more weird tips if you want...just ask.

Some good Tips, THX for that! One thing to complain: please don't use Baby Powder to prevent Snake bites, take Talkum powder! And Grease is no good, because it will dry out soon or, for the worst, it may damage the Rubber of the tube. After all, I use only Mousse and the troubles are totally gone. Greets

Swing arm covers damage your finish more than they save. Remove and clean under them often or just put decals on. Make sure to ride your brakes and glaze the pads up good so they don't work good. Several aggressive stops letting them cool in-between is the correct way. Oh, use chain lube. Otherwise, do what he said.

Hi Kyle, I know shops and dealerships HATE when they have to change a tire with slime tire sealant in it but I feel just the opposite. Actually got the tip from the guys over at Tubliss to use Slime as a lubricant when mounting a new tire. I "paint" the high pressure tube and inside of my tires with Slime before install. Everything slips into place easily and cleans up with water. A few ounces in the low pressure chamber afterwards keeps everything lured inside to prevent friction and flats. I was always told NOT to use standard WD40 on a chain because it's a degreaser not a lubricant. Maybe you can clarify? Love your channel. Makes me happy every time I buy a product using your links (which is way too often!) That I can help support you and your family. Keep up the good work and the outtakes at the end!!! J

Basically WD 40 helps give temporary lubricant to the O-Rings. It won’t harm the rubber. I use Chain Wax directly on each ring, but WD 40 works and is also good because you can spray the whole chain and wipe off the excess with a rag. WD 40 can also be used for a chain cleaner.

Kyle from experience put your bar mounts back into the rear two holes on the Yamaha, it kills the handling, makes the bike steer way too quick and knifey in the front holes. Trust me on this 👍

Here's a tip for YOU - Get a Brush/Crash Guard that bolts into the bar end. It will protect everything in the whole control group on both sides. The one you are using will flex out of the way and is very short which allows everything to contact the ground before the guard (see 0.44). The full protector will save a lot of damage to controls. It will also brush away stuff that could get caught between between your brush guard and control group, as well as actually protect parts of your hand from brush hits, because it is so far away from the end of your hand. Your short Guard is also the reason for some of your tips. Chain lube - WD-40 is good. It comes off easily also when cleaning - taking dirt with it. However a DRY LUBE doesn't sling off. I use Teflon Multi-Use Lubricant, works great.

The tip on steering head bearing tension is still wrong kyle. Adding the caption to release the fork clamps is some of the correction, but the tension is not obtained from the bolt on the top of the triple clamp. It is obtained by adjusting the two collar nuts that lock together under the top clamp....🙄. Crank as much tension as you like on the nut or bolt on top of the top clamp, you are only tightening it against those two locking collar nuts. The bearings are under those...

I liked the fuel filter sack that goes inside the tank and that small hand air pump. What could be the price of each of them? Thanks.

Tying your dirt bike down that way is absolutely the best. I can't believe for 35 years or so I've always cranked the front forks down, which is not the best thing for the seals especially over an extended length of time. 👍 Plus the bike is more stable and secure. I go fast with my bike in back and now I don't worry at all about it tipping over.
